Strippy Scrap Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I was able to use up most of the 2" strips in purple and green that I have making this quilt. It's going to be donated to a needy person.

I hope you can gauge the number of blocks and rows from the photos. I didn't make it from a pattern, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. |
Very pretty....

Hi Grandma Peg, what I did was sew 3, 2" strips together and then cross cut them into 5" blocks. Then I unevenly snowballed two opposite corners with red, so they would come out with little star points. I really don't remember what I did with the red!

What a great job---love the colors
what fun colors...what a thoughtful scrappy quilt donation, someone is going to love it.
The lovely bright colors you chose to use will certainly bring cheer to the person that receives your lovely quilt.
Nice job! Love the red stars. Can you explain a little more about your "unevenly snowballing" technique? I think I know what you mean, but the morning coffee hasn't hit my brain yet. I'm thinking you must have cut 1/2 the triangles off at one measurement, the other 1/2 at another, slightly bigger measure?
sewbizgirl - that is so colorful, gives me an idea for my string quilt.
All the colors made a bright and cheerful quilt.
About that pattern:- Jenny of Missouri Star Quilt Company did a demonstration of a similar pattern. Don't remember the name of the pattern, (included the word "stars") but it should be easy to find.
Love your scrappy.
Lovely. Bright and cheerful.
The pop of red really ties the whole thing together. Very vibrant.
You have great vision for scraps. I love it. I look at all the colors and prints and can't for the life of me decide what to do. Wish I had your talent. I finally started cutting them in strips and charm sqs. and sorting by color to be able to use existing patterns. I'm too OCD to do uncontrolled scrappy.
