What a beautiful BIG space you have, everythings all matchy, I am jealous! my space; as I have whined about in the past is a 9x9 room, no closet. You did a great job! It's great. I'm using the spare bedroom, which is small and has a double bed, the ironing board and everything else!!!

Jingle 05-24-2010 06:37 AM

Your room looks great and so much room to be creative in. Good for you.

MoMoSews 05-24-2010 10:39 AM

I think you have a great set up :D

MarjaMT 05-24-2010 10:54 AM

I love your set up and that knotty pine is beautiful....Are you sure you want to cover it or take it down......Will be looking for some quilts you have done in your restful place.

mamabird3 05-24-2010 11:12 AM

Love your studio!! I would trade if for the 12x12 room I have my things in anyday!! :D

Nettie 05-24-2010 12:18 PM

I love your room. I love the idea of several work stations. When I want to use different machines I have to constantly move one form the desk and put the other up. It would be so nice to just move to the other work station. I love the knotty pine. Gives such characater to the room. I may have to bit the bullet and move downstairs but I hate to loos my natural light from the upstsirs. the two windows in my basement are so tiny I don't know why they bothered with them. Those of you who use your basement for sewing what do you use for lighting?

Yup. You are one lucky sonnavagun! :D

And now, I have Phil Collins stuck in my head....

HapaMom 05-24-2010 12:54 PM

How fortunate you are! I would LOVE a basement as a quilting room and when we move back to northern VA, where homes have basements that's my plan. Like you said, it's so nice and cool down there, something very important to a peri-mentalpausal mama!

I LOVE your quilting room and thank you for sharing
:-)

PurpleBecca 05-24-2010 12:56 PM

Any space we can call our own for our special hobby/calling/obsession is wonderful!!! You have great space there. Congratulations!!! Just think of all the people here who have only the dining room table in between meals. People like you, me and others who have our own space are exceptionally lucky!!

brushandthimble 05-24-2010 02:15 PM

I love the amount of space you have! I do have my own room, but it is small with slanted ceilings. (It's a cape)

seamstome 05-24-2010 02:16 PM

I like it and all of that room--nice. I am thinking about moving into the basement because it is hot in my room in the summer.

2 Doods 05-24-2010 02:30 PM

What a nice room. Look at all the space.
You have room to grow

ann clare 05-24-2010 02:44 PM

It looks good. Enjoy,

Ritzquilts 05-24-2010 03:11 PM

Looks like you set up the room just great for friends and you to sew. Good job

MadQuilter 05-24-2010 03:26 PM

Look at all that room - myohmy, that's nothing to scoff at.

In case you are interested. Pics of my sewing space have been posted in the Mad Funhouse PDA on page 113. It's bright and yellow and small. You got bright and orange-pine and huge. Happy quilting.

Do I see a Bernina and a Juki there?

You sure do! :) The JUKI I found on Craigslist for $100 and hope to find a quilt frame for. :)

The Bernina was a gift and is the 430 model. ;)

miholmes 05-24-2010 04:05 PM

Thanks for all of the kind words. Like I said I was just happy to get it all put together and now I can spend time quilting and not worry about where I'm gonna cut, or about having to setup another table etc. :)

JanetM 05-24-2010 04:37 PM

You have a wonderful sewing space...so large.

Happy Tails 05-25-2010 03:58 AM

I think that's absolutely awesome!!! Great looking room :)

mygirl66 05-25-2010 04:47 AM

What an awesome space! I love the knotty pine, the counter tops are PERFECT! I would feel like I was on Life Styles of The Rich and Famous if I had that space for sewing! Very nice!

nannya54 05-25-2010 05:10 AM

I only have a part of the basement but hey, I love it 'cause I don't have to clean up my mess! And you are right, it is much cooler down there in the summer. Your space is great.

MelissaK 05-25-2010 05:17 AM

I'm jealous.... My stuff is in the basement... summers are nice, but winters are chilly!

slvrseven 05-25-2010 05:30 AM

Nice room...love the space :)

goodluna 05-25-2010 05:53 AM

I also love your basement, I have a small room, that my sewing shares with my computer. Oh well. We are here for life. Have fun

biloxigirl 05-25-2010 06:06 AM

I AM SOOO JEALOUS!

shopaholic97 05-25-2010 06:21 AM

That room looks great! No way would I post photos of my room just can't get it organized the way some of the posts are.

BJN 05-25-2010 06:24 AM

Pretty please, don't paint the knotty pine or cover it.

koko51puff 05-25-2010 06:25 AM

I am so jealous I could spit!

newquilter2009 05-25-2010 06:49 AM

You are so lucky. I have the spare bedroom and it is the smallest room in the house. But it would be wonderful to have a whole basement to use. And I would leave the knotty pine just the way it is. I think it is very bright and clean looking. Its much better than plain white walls, which I think are very boring.

mamaw 05-25-2010 06:52 AM

Ohh,you are so blessed!! I have a sewing station lol. A small sewing table with an extension that sits between my bedroom door and closet door.

hereca622 05-25-2010 08:42 AM

OMG Mike,
That is a wonderful sewing room. Do you know how many of us have rooms that are so full that we can bearly sew in them and I actually have friends that can not sew in their sewing rooms. And how many of us have to sew on the dining room table and put away everything each time? Don't apologize for anything, You are Blessed. You can sew IN your sewing room. And now You are just showing off, You can invite Friends to come in and sew with you. I hope that you have many happy hours in your new sewing room and can't wait to see all the quilts that it will inspire.

KGoodhand 05-25-2010 08:45 AM

How could you not love that room! You are so lucky!

Sewslow 05-25-2010 08:52 AM

Ooooh! Makes me want to dig a basement.

Jeannie 05-25-2010 09:21 AM
