Things went a bit differently with the tassel/bead end. I thought the kids would be tickled if I used alpaca yarn, but it was too soft on its own to use with beads, so I tied the two pieces together, rolled the ends up with tape, pushed a bead on, tied another knot, then pulled the tape off. It's not two beads each like last year, and I had to use ones that had bigger holes, but I wasn't going to do it twice to each one. I love my students, but....
Background: students let me know their favorites: sports, season, animal. (without knowing why).. and I try my hardest to work that into their bookmark--front and back. Several this year just said "winter" so that was easy. I had to buy hockey, basketball, and football. I had lots of baseball and soccer, but those aren't popular this year.  I always have many dog/cat/horse fabrics. Last year was big on penguins, and many mentioned them this year; I knew I was covered. I've already restocked for the most popular topics--figured if I was ordering hockey stuff, I might as well add more. :-D I've been quite sick, so this has been a nice quiet activity for me to feel I'm accomplishing something! :| All the fronts close ups close ups The backs. The notes are labels with name and back idea. close ups The labels are important--each boookmark is made for a specific person! Those are really neat!

I saw an earlier post when you had first started them...they turned out awesome and it's really nice of you to do that for each of them and to personalize them like that! Just wondering what is on the inside...is it premade bookmark cardstock?
|
I really like them!
|
Those are great! Your students are so lucky to have a teacher like you!

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Hope you are now on the road to recovery and will be feeling totally well for Christmas. I should be fine soon... I started with a terrible sore throat Monday at 2 AM... but it was deep, hurt to swallow but not to talk, so I kept going to school. It didn't get better... I felt worse and worse but I had two rescheduled parent conferences and an IST meeting I didn't want to miss. I feel chilled/shivery, then would sweat profusely (at night) but my temp was only 97.7-99.6. Finally I took Friday off to see my doc. She said bacterial infection, sinus infection, lymph glands are all hugely swollen as are all my other tissues from the neck up. Sigh... I'm on a strong antibiotic. The sore throat left fast--and the temp regulators are back to normal, but man oh man the stuffiness and plugged ear are making me crazy. I'd love one more day off.... but I won't. But I'll be great by Christmas. Is it soon? |
Love them!

great idea ... your students will love them!

Great bookmarks.
|
Lovely bookmarks, what a lot of work but lucky students. I needed teachers like you when I was at school :)
|
Your students are so lucky to have you as their teacher! You really put some thought into their gifts and try to make them for each individual student, when it would be so much easier to just make them all the same! Hope you're feeling better soon and that your winter break gives you a chance to get yourself completely well again!
|
What a fabulous idea and perfect gift! Love your work and passion for your students.

Your students will be so very happy to find out how their interests are given back to them. You are a treasured teacher. BTW, sorry to see that you have been sick. May you be well very soon.

Really like the bookmarks. I am recovering from same, but it takes me forever to revover due to CFIDS. Have to retire from teaching in 05, because of it.
|
How did you make them? How did you get the fabric to stay on? Did you use pre-made bookmarks and put fabric on? Sorry about all the questions but I was trying to make my DD a bookmark and it turned out crappy. Help please!
