Studio Reset!

4 Attachment(s)
We moved into our house 5 years ago and I threw my studio together. I didn't have the time to organize anything or make it "work". So I decided that this spring was the time to get it together.

The first picture was the BEFORE picture (I won't bore you with a panagraph view - the rest of the room was a bad as this).

The second picture - I tore everything out of the room EVERYTHING. And then rebuilt it from the ground up.

The third picture is the finished wall of stash. I still have a definite need for more space but this looks pretty good to me. I can SEE my fabrics!!

And the fourth picture is the area where I sew. I have the bench under the window (where the cat likes to lay and nap). I have another project laying on it - ready to finish.

Thanks for looking!

I know when I re-did my room, and then took another bedroom and made it the cutting and ironing room, I slept better at night because of the organization. Won't ever go back to digging stuff out of totes. Even if I have to leave things astray after finishing a project or have to walk away from it all for awhile, I go down there every now and then, straighten it all up and I feel so much better. Your studio looks very inviting!

Wow! Wonderful place and great work getting it that way!

lollygagging 05-18-2012 06:21 PM

Kudos to your for finally achieving what you've wanted to do for a very long time. It looks great. Thanks for sharing your success with us.

kitsykeel 05-18-2012 06:34 PM

Carrie,

That was a time consuming chore I am sure, but it looks very neat. All those pretty fabrics. Where's the cat? I really like cats and enjoy the avatars and pictures with cats in them.

burchquilts 05-18-2012 06:49 PM

Awesome! Isn't it GREAT to have a nice, clean space all your own to sew in? I have the space... now I just need to make it clean again... LOL! Thanks for showing us your new space!

NikkiLu 05-18-2012 07:35 PM

Fabulous order to your room now - so nice and inviting. Thanks for taking the time to show it to us.

A clean room is so much fun to mess up!! Your room is so nice :)

Tigger 05-19-2012 08:52 AM

I noticed you have a cutting table from JoAnn's. I have one and it is so wobbly I wonder if it is going to collapse. Do you have any suggestions on how to make it more sturdy. I really like it but needs to be more stable.

jojosnana 05-19-2012 09:06 AM

You did a fantastic job.

justflyingin 05-19-2012 09:23 AM

It's beautiful. How long did it take you? I'm sure you find it more peaceful and fun to look at it, but in truth, while it was a bit "catywampus" before, I didn't think the before was "THAT" bad. ;0

northern lass 05-19-2012 09:35 AM

How wonderful to have a space like that to create in!

Tweety2911 05-19-2012 02:51 PM

Worth all the effort you put into organizing. You did a great job and created the ideal studio!

Tartan 05-19-2012 02:55 PM

Wow, your room looks so neat and tidy! I have the stacking metal wire units also and they sure are handy.

Cindy60545 05-20-2012 03:17 AM

Talk about spring cleaning! Wow! You did a great job! Now your creative side can have a whole new perspective!

sewdarnbusy 05-20-2012 03:25 AM

It looks wonderful. It's so hard to keep our sewing rooms in order. Because every time we work in there, we mess it up again. You have a wonderful sewing room. Thanks for sharing.

psychonurse 05-20-2012 03:33 AM

Sew very nice and inviting. Thanks for sharing.

ranbro 05-20-2012 03:52 AM

Narda H. 05-20-2012 04:58 AM

Now that was some work! Love it.

Latrinka 05-20-2012 05:01 AM

Wow, you did a great job! I know that was a lot of work! But don't it feel good to get it done!

Quilter 65 05-20-2012 05:08 AM

Don't you just feel lighter? I so need to do this and I know I would be more productive. Right now I have misplaced a critical piece for a border and I know it is there "somewhere". Good job.

cherrio 05-20-2012 05:52 AM

looks great! and my cats would love to nap there too . . .nice spot

ItsJustMe 05-20-2012 06:02 AM

How nice! You've done a great job at organizing. It does feel good, once it's done. Congrats!

Sewfine 05-20-2012 06:09 AM

Love the redo and the bench under the window. My closet where I keep my stash and patterns, looks just like the first picture. I am in the process of giving some to a lady on freecycle.org that wants to learn to sew.

bibi 05-20-2012 08:23 AM

Great job, enjoy it!

gramquilter2 05-20-2012 08:56 AM

Looks like a great place to work in-

emlee51 05-20-2012 08:58 AM

Wow!! What a transformation...always makes for a better sewing experience! Thanks for sharing!

callen 05-20-2012 09:52 AM

What a great job. Isn't it so much more fulfilling when things are neat & tidy & you can find things? Lovely room.
Miss the cat.

pinecone 05-20-2012 10:19 AM

I love your playground, how inviting. Where did you get the wire shelves? I got some when a store went out of business but could use more. DH cut some Masonite to fit the bottoms so the fabrics don't get imprints from the wire.

nancia 05-20-2012 11:39 AM

it looks great! wanna come and do mine?:o

terri bb 05-20-2012 11:47 AM

such a beautiful well organized place to create in! love your room! i am still working out of totes in a very small room, small enough that i can't even leave my ironing board down, and i can't WAIT until i can revamp the boy's room and the extra bedroom into one great big sewing space someday!

EvelynJ 05-20-2012 12:26 PM

You're room looks fantastic. I have tried to redo my room last week. When I went to move the bookshelf just a few inches the whole thing fell apart. Now I have quilting magazines all along the wall's baseboards. It's amazing how things just go from 1 to 100 in no time at all. I love your room. I know you will have a great time spending time there.

margecam52 05-20-2012 03:09 PM

Wow, now I need a nap! Looking at all that hard work has just plain tuckered me out!

Dee 05-20-2012 08:35 PM
