Stupendous Stitching
1 Attachment(s)
I took the class "Stupendous Stitching" from Craftsy.com and have absolutely fallen in love with my project, so I wanted to share. I love how there is SO much too it- busy, but it all comes together. There is couching, decorative stitches, hand embroidery, and quilting.
This piece is 18x18. It will be mounted permanently onto foam board (glued down) and put onto the wall. I have never done rat-tail binding before, and the bottom edge ruffled- I can't figure out why, as I didn't do anything differently on the other sides But for a first try, I'm pretty pleased. I think rat tail might be a nice alternative to traditional binding on wall hangings. |
Woah- that picture is bigger than I intended. Sorry :(

The stitches are hand and machine. The hand stitches were just done with plain embroidery thread (all the strands together) and with yarn, as I had a much wider selection of yarn. I did not dye the fabric, it is a batik fat quarter. Rat-tail is a round satin cording. It is zig zagged to the borders to serve as binding, rather than bias tape. |
very cute!!! good job

But it's beautiful and helps to be able to see all the gorgeous stiching!!! Beautiful work...I see why you love it!!

Very pretty.

Gorgeous! Can you lace it around the foam instead of using glue?
