Look at the other panel closely. Was it printed crooked or was the fabric stretched out of square when it was put on the bolt? Check the grain.
I have been working with a few panels and most of them are VERY off. I have used lots of starch to square them up. I just spray the panel heavily, then lightly manipulate it to square it up and press being careful not to stretch it. After rechecking for squareness, I often have to respray with starch and work with it again. If it is just a corner that is still off, just spray where needed. The starch will help to keep it "square" while you work with it. Once it is quilted, it should stay in place okay...at least that is my hope. If anyone has ever tried this with less than satisfactory results, please correct me. I'm still new to this and haven't quilted any of these panels yet. |
Be sure to post a picture when the second top is done. I think it's great that you are doing this for the library

I agree with the comments to just leave it. No one sees the music but the choir. You just added a minor chord to make it more interesting. I love it. Just pretend you planned it that way. It didn't hurt the warming power a bit.

I would leave it. It looks like it was meant to be that way. The ABC show at the top and bottom, the sides look like they are disappearing into the quilt....

Aww--you gals are terrific. Your comments have made my day. Thank you.

I would rotary cut the alphabet off and then rotary cut your piano key border so you only loose 3/8 of an inch. Reattach the piano key border to the narrow border of the panel. Cut off the access and safe for a scrap quilt project. I realize the pannel will most likely still not be straight after you trim the alphabet but I would attach the piano key border and then HAMMER it into place with a stiple.

I think it is cute as can be. I bet Green Fairy would like to have it for the Romanian Orphans. You should PM her. For kids that have absolutely nothing, I am sure they would think that your quilt is the best thing ever.

I think it is lovely, i would donate it no one will notice, unless they quilt

You could call it learning to read or something like that to point out the difference as intentional
