Sunrise Over the Pines. Done! (Well--on the design wall anyway.)

1 Attachment(s)
This is for my husband to hang over his desk.
I have been working on this for awhile. I made many changes along the way, especially with the sunrise. Today I kept changing how the top row of trees blends in with the sun...and I'm still wondering if it should be yellow all the way across...but I'll look at it again tomorrow and decide.

Now comes the task of taking it down to sew together. Ugh. lol I'll have to add a small border on the sunrise to match the tree width. THEN it goes to feline fanatic for quilting! I cannot wait to see what she does with it!

I sliced the tip of a finger off with my rotary blade today--so that slowed me down some, darn it. I'll sure be more careful now!

Oh--this is a combination of at least three patterns, so I can't tell anyone where to get it.:)

Oh WOW Karla, I LOVE this! It turned out beautifully.

QuiltnNan 02-18-2013 03:55 PM

that's fantastic. keeping blocks in the right order for sewing has always been my downfall :) Eleanor Burns always made it look so easy.

GreatStarter 02-18-2013 03:57 PM

It's adorable. You combined those three patterns wonderfully. Hope you will share a picture when its is completely done.

If I were you I wouldn't change the yellow along the bottom of the sunset. I like it very much the way it is.

What a beautiful quilt!

Nope! But I had to wipe my skin off the rotary blade. Eww. I was trimming the red/blue blocks anyway. LOL

Grandma Bonnie 02-18-2013 05:20 PM

It's beautiful and will be even moreso when quilted! Sorry about your finger!

lots2do 02-18-2013 05:22 PM

Wow! It reminds me of a friend's Christmas tree farm. I'm really glad you didn't have to worry about getting stains out.

laurafet 02-18-2013 05:23 PM

That is way too cool.

The light on in the cabin gives it a very human element! It makes you think someone is inside the cabin. I think your husband will really like it over his desk!

That is just stunning, love it.

diamondee 02-19-2013 08:40 PM

I absolutely love love love that, you did a great job. For a different look you could take the two trees with lighter background (on right) and place in the center of the quilt to make it look like the sun filtering through the trees towards the cabin. Like a sunset on the water, light in the center and darker as you get to the edges.

owlvamp 02-19-2013 08:41 PM

Yes love it too. It is truly beautiful!!

lizzy 02-19-2013 08:57 PM

giquilt 02-20-2013 04:50 AM

Love this piece. I cut my finger once. That is all it takes.

#1piecemaker 02-20-2013 05:04 AM

Oh, I think the colors are just great the way they are. You did a wonderful job!

barnbum 02-20-2013 05:10 AM

Thanks, everyone! I got the two sections together last night, and figured out how to extend the sunrise this morning! I made three half blocks and added it--then trimmed--perfect fit!

All packed up to give a one woman quilt show today---so it's added to the stacks.
