Yes, I have met Donald Locke too. He came to our quilt show in September 2010. He had one heck of a long-armer!
I know that he spent so much time picking out and arranging his fabrics to make this and piece them together.
I've often wondered why he didn't use fusible 1 inch grid when he did this. Maybe it would have been faster, maybe not.
Either way, he did a wonderful job and it took my breath away looking at the piecing and the quilting. What an amazing accomplishment.

He sure knows how to keep his mind going! I've considered taking a pixel mosaic pattern and adapting it for quilting, but not one with that high of count. Amazing! Where's he hang it (5'7" x 15'3")? That's a lot of wall. How does he work with that many different stacks of 1" blocks? Truly amazing!
