Last fall I made a nice, fluffy (although, heavy) baby biscuit quilt for a childhood friend's baby shower, forgetting that she lives in the South now and a heavy quilt is not ideal for those temps. She instead bought quilt hangers and hung it up on the nursery wall. That could have been the end of it but I felt bad. She didn't say anything to make me feel that way, by any means, but I feel babies need blankies to cuddle with. That led me to make this new quilt, just after the baby was born. I'm going to ship it out this week and the new mom has no idea.

It's not an original design. Vogue came out with a pattern like this from the 70's, I think, but I've only ever seen a photo of it being made for a boy with boyish designs. The nursery colors are pink and brown so I tried to use some fun, cute designs keeping with those colors.

The new quilt is so precious. The first one would be fabulous for floor time for the baby. When she starts to learn to sit up she won't get hurt banging her head on the floor with all the puffyness.

Being in the south, I still make fluffy filled quilts...habit of mine so when they are on the floor they have some cushioning. Also, by the time it's washed a zillion times, that fluffy is gone over the years.

That is adorable. She is going to love it. I live in Florida and the first one would work here for a baby, and it is also very pretty. We have been having some very cold weather. Maybe is afraid to mess the quilt up. She will love and enjoy both of them for years to come.
