Started working on one of these. Not sure if it will end up a basket or a tote bag. I really like this technique!

wow, great job, I want to make one also
I've always wanted to try that. They look so cool.
I've been wanting to try this, but still not brave enough. Yours is looking great. Can't wait to see if you go with a basket or a purse.
do you hand sew the rows or machine sew it?
machine shewn.....I did some years ago... I got the stuff to do some more, but it is still so far down the TO DO LIST.... sigh..
great job! |
thats on my list for me & my daughter to do. I think its so neat!
looks cool!
I can't wait to see finished project! Looking good.
I can't wait to see how it looks finished. I have everything to do it, just haven't done it yet. One day....it is on my list. :)
okay, I went back and looked at the picture more closely...duh!...I guess I do see the sewing machine there...lol
so is it fabric strips wrapped around cotton cording?...I'm still trying to get a full visual on this... I've never seen this done before. |
Good job
Kool, love things like that. Was it hard? Would love to have a bowl with some of my pretty fabric. BrendaK
Very pretty. I made a bowl a while ago and am still surprised how sturdy it is. They are time consuming to make (although fairly mindless once you get started) but definitely come out gorgeous and are VERY Usable. Can't wait to see the finished project (whatever it becomes)!
Thats really cool!!!!!
Here's a great little youtube to give you a view of how to wrap the rope, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5Pbr9zi8XQ
took a class this year at a LQS and it is a lot of fun and easy and addicting
Looks great! I want to make some fabric bowls, but keep putting it off. You've inspired me to move them up the list.
That is cool. I have bought cord to do this, just haven.t tried yet
I love this. I learned how at a how-to at a 30 minute class at a quilt show. I have it started but haven't finished it. Maybe I'll get it done....
WOW!
Cool -- I make fabric bowls, but not wrapped. That would be a great way to use up random strips.
Looking good!

i am SO going to try this soon!
i bought the things to do this last year at a quilt show. Kinda forgot I had it. I found it last week and set it out to look at and possibly work on. I love yours the colors look pretty. I look forward to seeing the finished project.
I love your shape - it looks like an Aboriginal food carrier and is great as it is. The thing I like about making these things is that you can make them any shape you like. I'm making more for this year's exhibition and I hope the interest is still there for our visitors. Well done.
My friend does these. She just has the best time. Yours looks great.
Very cool I agree I want one to!!!!!LOL
I have that book. Thanks for showing a result. Great beginning.

Very nice!
Some 22 or more years ago, I used this technique to make Easter baskets for 3 of my granddaughters. I made each of them in one of 3 different pastel prints. They were thrilled.
I love it and think it would look great as the bag that's pictured on the book cover.
I have everything needed to make one......well, it's on the list
