Started working on one of these. Not sure if it will end up a basket or a tote bag. I really like this technique!

craftybear 06-27-2011 05:16 PM

wow, great job, I want to make one also

bjeriann 06-27-2011 05:17 PM

I've always wanted to try that. They look so cool.

KatFish 06-27-2011 05:19 PM

I've been wanting to try this, but still not brave enough. Yours is looking great. Can't wait to see if you go with a basket or a purse.

frugalfabrics 06-27-2011 05:19 PM

do you hand sew the rows or machine sew it?

bluteddi 06-27-2011 05:25 PM

machine shewn.....I did some years ago... I got the stuff to do some more, but it is still so far down the TO DO LIST.... sigh..

great job!

RkayD 06-27-2011 05:40 PM

KGoodhand 06-27-2011 05:42 PM

emerald46 06-27-2011 05:47 PM

I can't wait to see finished project! Looking good.

hperttula123 06-27-2011 05:53 PM

I can't wait to see how it looks finished. I have everything to do it, just haven't done it yet. One day....it is on my list. :)

frugalfabrics 06-27-2011 05:53 PM

okay, I went back and looked at the picture more closely...duh!...I guess I do see the sewing machine there...lol

so is it fabric strips wrapped around cotton cording?...I'm still trying to get a full visual on this...

I've never seen this done before.

blueangel 06-27-2011 05:57 PM

Good job

BrendaK 06-27-2011 06:01 PM

Kool, love things like that. Was it hard? Would love to have a bowl with some of my pretty fabric. BrendaK

Quilted Horse 06-27-2011 06:16 PM

Very pretty. I made a bowl a while ago and am still surprised how sturdy it is. They are time consuming to make (although fairly mindless once you get started) but definitely come out gorgeous and are VERY Usable. Can't wait to see the finished project (whatever it becomes)!

btiny36 06-27-2011 06:17 PM

Thats really cool!!!!!

hcarpanini 06-27-2011 06:21 PM

Here's a great little youtube to give you a view of how to wrap the rope, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5Pbr9zi8XQ

azdesertrat 06-27-2011 06:23 PM

took a class this year at a LQS and it is a lot of fun and easy and addicting

Becka 06-27-2011 06:25 PM

Looks great! I want to make some fabric bowls, but keep putting it off. You've inspired me to move them up the list.

alikat110 06-27-2011 06:44 PM

That is cool. I have bought cord to do this, just haven.t tried yet

musicaljan 06-27-2011 07:24 PM

I love this. I learned how at a how-to at a 30 minute class at a quilt show. I have it started but haven't finished it. Maybe I'll get it done....

Carron 06-27-2011 08:50 PM

WOW!

QuiltnLady1 06-27-2011 08:52 PM

Cool -- I make fabric bowls, but not wrapped. That would be a great way to use up random strips.

SueDor 06-28-2011 02:10 AM

Looking good!

peabee 06-28-2011 04:31 AM

i am SO going to try this soon!

meanmom 06-28-2011 04:51 AM

i bought the things to do this last year at a quilt show. Kinda forgot I had it. I found it last week and set it out to look at and possibly work on. I love yours the colors look pretty. I look forward to seeing the finished project.

jitkaau 06-28-2011 05:30 AM

I love your shape - it looks like an Aboriginal food carrier and is great as it is. The thing I like about making these things is that you can make them any shape you like. I'm making more for this year's exhibition and I hope the interest is still there for our visitors. Well done.

debcavan 06-28-2011 05:31 AM

My friend does these. She just has the best time. Yours looks great.

quiltymom 06-28-2011 05:58 AM

I made a large oval "placemat" with this technique but was so bored (mindless is right) that I think it will be the one and only piece like this. I had to keep walking away from it in order to stay sane or maybe awake. lol

Ilovemydogs 06-28-2011 03:13 PM

Very nice!

blueheavenfla 06-28-2011 03:50 PM

Some 22 or more years ago, I used this technique to make Easter baskets for 3 of my granddaughters. I made each of them in one of 3 different pastel prints. They were thrilled.

desertrose 06-28-2011 04:24 PM

I love it and think it would look great as the bag that's pictured on the book cover.

pamesue 06-28-2011 04:26 PM

I have everything needed to make one......well, it's on the list
