Have you ever had a panel that is so out of square you had to cut it up and pretty much remake it? Well this darn Susybee panel was one of those...... I did the best I could with it and think the mom will love it. I used a bee quilting pattern and my favorite backing shannon canary minky. The border with the owls from a different line of fabrics but I think it looks ok.

Panels are actually printed straight. It's the rolling of the yardage onto big rolls, and then the subsequent 'bolting' onto bolts that skews it. Don't be afraid to take a panel and just tug real hard on the bias until you have it square again. Then press.

That came out wonderful. They will love it. The quilting is fantastic!

I don't think I have every found an un-skewed panel. I usually tape one selvedge edge to the edge of my cutting table, then dampen the panel slightly and gently tug and tape one perpendicular edge to the table. Using my long cutting rulers and my 12 1/2 inch squares, I gently align and tape the other two edges to the table. Final check is to make sure the diagonal measurements are the same (something my woodworker DH taught me!). Then I wet the whole thing down and leave it to dry. Next day--one squared up panel!
