This pattern is "Syncopated Rhythm" by Karen Montgomery

I bought this as a kit at the Santa Barbara quilt show this last fall. These are "my" colors! Nice and cheery. The border is a little redder in the picture than in reality. It's really more orange and pink, like in the 'big stick' popsicles.

One quilt down and a few more to go. I am busily trying to clear the decks so I can start a quilt for our youngest daughter. She's the only one left that doesn't have a quilt made especially for her. I have hit a point though where the projects must be finished before I start something new!

I try to look at everyone's wonderful quilts here when I get a break. :D Ladies and Gentlemen, Y'all do some pretty awesome work!

This is the back. I fell in love with this piece of batik. Yummy! The colors are nearly right here.

Syncopated Rhythm - not quite so red in real life but still plenty bright!

Wow! That is one pretty quilt. I can just see those lines movin' to the music. Way cool as a wall hanging. Are you ging to display it on the wall?

Ducky 06-04-2009 06:09 AM

Love this quilt! The batiks you chose are beautiful, fun and happy looking. What will you do with this one? I also really like the abstractness of the pattern.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Wow! What a wonderful messages to wake up to in the morning. I'm blushing! When I saw the sample at the quilt show I knew I had to have this quilt. I hadn't made a batik quilt before for various reasons.

When I first started quilting I worked with a few batiks. I had no idea what they were and, ready for this, didn't like them. Turns out the reason for my dislike was the pins I was using. They were dull and very hard to use! SO, I now have new pins, have learned more about batiks and have a new love! Wow! Just thinking of what I was missing makes me want to cry! No more! My batik stash is growing.

I've not decided what to do with this quilt yet. It really doesn't go with the home decor but it may end up on a wall for a bit anyway! It does make me happy! It's nice and warm so it may just be used come winter. Then again, a daughter's coming home this summer for a visit so I may lose it too! Who knows?

Thank you again for all the positive feed-back. Now on to the next WIP! Time to wind them all up, whip them out, finish them off... oh, you know what I mean.

Batiks are so great! I am glad you posted this. I recently got a rainbow assortment of batiks and wondered exactly how I might use them all in one quilt - this is a great example! Keep up the good work.

Yvonne - your beautiful quilt has really brightened this dull, rainy day in France! As a winter bed quilt - it will warm you just LOOKING at it! Well done - and for getting to work on the WIPs too!

Shemjo 06-09-2009 08:44 AM

I LOVE the bright colors! Thanks for sharing!

Yvonne 06-09-2009 09:22 AM

Thank you all once again. So happy to find others who like bright colors as much as I do. They do warm you up on a cool, rainy day, as k3n mentions. Living on the northern California coastline we get plenty of those days! Perhaps that's why most of my quilts are so bright. Could be!

littlehud 06-09-2009 06:44 PM

Beautiful quilt. I can understand why you bought the pattern, those colors call to me too. Love it. Great job.

"I've got rhythm,
I've got music...
I've got my quilt
Who could ask for anything more"

Sing it Ella! For that is one jammin' pretty quilt!

Thank you gaigai, now I have had that song running through my head for an hour! I'm going to have to sing "It's a Small World" just to get rid of it.

Oh, please! Don't go there! You'll never get rid of "It's a Small World!" Take it from an ex-first grade teacher that knows!

Thanks gaigai! Kind of makes me want to dance through the chores this morning. :D Gotta get that quilt displayed somewhere!

zyxquilts 06-10-2009 02:51 PM

That is gorgeous Yvonne!! Should you ever tire of it, I will be right over to pick it up & give it a new home.....
