table runner from leftovers

I had a lot of left over batik 2 inch squares from a quilt that I made so I put them together with a light brown batik and made a table rummer for my coffee table. The colors in the pictures are not the greatest but you can get the idea.

Looks great! Now find something unique for a set of checker pieces and you'll have a very innovative game board as well as table runner!

Barb_MO 10-27-2012 05:17 PM

I love that! What is the size of the finished runner?

Izaquilter 10-27-2012 05:19 PM

The finished size is 16 X 34. It was so simple to make. I didn't think it needed a border so I just put on the binding. Thanks for the compliment.

Batiks are my favorite and this is a great way to use them! Storing in my memory for a future project idea. :)

Very pretty leftovers!

gzuslivz 10-27-2012 05:51 PM

So your squares were 2" to start with and your sashing strips were 1" to start with?

Yes, you are correct with the measurements. I just quilted in the ditch to quilt it. The simpler, the better for this one.

QUILTNMO 10-27-2012 06:10 PM

very nice great colors!!!!

DebbE 10-27-2012 06:10 PM

I love it - it reminds me of sheets of negatives taken before prints are made (obviously a long time ago!)....nice effect!

HillCountryGal 10-27-2012 06:18 PM

Very pretty. And... wow, you sure are good at making things squared! I'm learning that's not always an easy thing to do.

Awesome idea to use those batiks. Don't want to waste anything with those beautiful fabrics. Good Job. Really cool.

Wow lots of work making all those little squares... it turned out great!!

gzuslivz 10-28-2012 10:48 AM

I'm gonna give this a try. I have some solid 2" squares and I might try either black or maybe a print for the sashing. Who knows?

momto5 10-28-2012 04:43 PM
