I can't believe that I haven't posted anything here or done any quilting work since January of 2009  I finished my first quilt, an Ohio Star wallhanging in December 2008, worked on a few small projects and another wallhanging top, but that was that. Of course having to part with my machine for a good nine-month period due to a work move didn't help. But I've been lurking and enjoying all the beautiful masterpieces you all have been creating. A few weeks back, I decided that I needed to dress up my new dining table, so I found an easy pattern in (I believe) Quilter Magazine for a table runner, and then just slapped together some squares and rectangles for six placemats. It took a long time, but I am happy with the end result. :) It feels wonderful to get back to quilting.

|
I bet you set a BEAUTIFUL Table. Nice fabrics... I really like them.
|
Thanks all for the kind words.
Sharon, the bug is surely back. Next, I am going to tackle Cynthia England's picture piecing pattern I got at the International Quilt Festival in 2008. I am not sure what I was thinking when I bought it, she made look so easy, now every time I look at it, I am scared of all the tiny pieces, but I am going to cut and sew one section at time, and hopefully finish it before the end of the year :) (That is how slow I am). |
Wow - considering you haven't been quilting for a while, it came right back! Nice job on the runner and placemats.
|
really cute

Candi! The table runner and place mats are wonderful! I was away from my machine for over 10 YEARS!
I was wondering about the fabric you used for your table runner border. Do you know who makes it and where I might find it? It would be perfect for the border of a sampler quilt I'm working on! Thanks for the info (if you know)!! |
Very nice!! That is a beautiful set you made!!
|
That is very pretty. I've been wanting to break into table runners this year and haven't come across any that are not only pretty, but simple enough that I could make. Seems like my piecing by the time I get to the end I'm all burned out. This looks great.
You are going to have to dig out that magazine so I can find one and buy it, google it, ebay it something! I love it! |
thanks for sharing!
|
Lovely ensemble! Love the fabrics! It feels great quilting again, doesn't it?! Glad you're back in the saddle again!
Kind Regards, MaryAnna |
What a great start for your return to quilting! These are beautiful. I can't wait to see what comes next. Keep us posted!
|
glad your back, and those are beautiful. God bless. Penny

Thanks all for the kind words.
Michelle D, I didn't really have a pattern for the place mats, just drew a simple design out, I may still be able to find the paper, or I'll measure it and give you the measurements. I am a new quilter too, only completed one quilted wall-hanging. So if I can do this, I am certain you can.:) mpeters1200, I am on the road this weekend, but I'll check my magazine and let you know the name and edition number. If you wish, I can send you a copy of the pattern,. stillwaters, Like I said, I am on the road today, but I'll check on the floral fabric for you and let you know. I bought it online a year or two ago from a store that was getting rid if their fabric, I'll see if what I have left still have the maker name. How much do you need? I should have at least one yard left, if you wish I can possibly trade it with you. But mine is washed. |
Thank you, I'll need about 5 yards for my quilt borders, so if I can't still find this fabric, I'll have to find something else. But I'd sure like to try to find this one! I love it! I hope you can find the manufacturer's name. I really appreciate that you'd take the time to look. Be safe on the road!

I would definitely be interested in the placemats you made to match them. I think they are very cute and match the tablerunner very well.
|
Absolutely beautiful. Make some pot holders to match too!

The pattern for the table runner is from the Quilter World Magazine, October 2008 issue. It seems like you can still buy it from their website here http://www.e-patternscentral.com/det...7&source=EPCQQ
Sorry, I don't have the magazine with me right now, or I would have sent it to whoever needs it. One thing about the table runner pattern though, I noticed that the cutting measurements for the border were a little off in the pattern. I always piece my top and measure it before cutting the borders, and I was glad I did with this. The thing was that I ended up with the same size table runner as specified by the pattern. Just heads up here. Also, stillwaters, the border fabric is from Benartex, called Flower Mart: Primroses Gold Rust, style # 3005. I found on one website for $9.35 (ouch). Here is the website, I sure hope you can find it cheaper. http://berninabillings.com/catalog/p...c9de3d3b5d1738 |
Really pretty!
|
Candi,
I can't thank you enough! I'll begin my search right away - but $9.35 a yard is right in the ballpark for quilting fabric here. I can't believe you even provided a website! You are awesome!!! |
