What is the old way to do the binding ?

Very pretty, it has an old time look to it.

Ready for summer with a pretty quilt. I use the backing/binding on all my small quilts.

I bought that charm pack too--MAYBE you've inspired me! Your table topper is fun.

It's fun and easy...I did use 1 fabric from leftovers that I cut into 2 blocks (dark blue with yellow birds). It's amazing what you can do with 1 charm pack! I do have a couple of leftovers that I'll make into coasters.

There are many ways to do binding. 'The old method' I am referring to is using the backing as your binding, just bring it around to the front. Yes, you'll have to cut it and then press the 1/4 inch hem, pin in place and sew. You can even miter it. I've seen old quilts that had this method of backing/binding. It's all one piece. It works well for smaller projects, but I've seen it on an old bed quilt before as well. I've been asked this question before and am pondering doing a tutorial on it.
