Well I did have a productive weekend! I finished this table topper late last night and washed it. I used the Avignon fabric line by Moda, a charm pack & 1 yd for outter border, the inner border & backing was from my stash.
On another thread discussing binding, I mentioned I sometimes use an old method of backing/binding and that is what I did on this table topper. I'm not the best photographer. I like that. It's so bright and cheerful. I also use the backing/binding method on small projects.

What is the old way to do the binding ? There are many ways to do binding. 'The old method' I am referring to is using the backing as your binding, just bring it around to the front. Yes, you'll have to cut it and then press the 1/4 inch hem, pin in place and sew. You can even miter it. I've seen old quilts that had this method of backing/binding. It's all one piece. It works well for smaller projects, but I've seen it on an old bed quilt before as well. I've been asked this question before and am pondering doing a tutorial on it. Kind Regards, MaryAnna |

I am a very visual person .. so a tute would be wonderful  Would you sew around the whole outside edge prior to bringing the back to the front ?
