Tablecloth Quilt
3 Attachment(s)
I just finished this quilt which I intended to be a fancy tablecloth for our kitchen table (when guests are here.) I did tons of fmq on it, in case it needs to be washed often. Hubby said it was beautiful and should not be used on the table where food will get spilled on it. I'm reconsidering and may put it on a bed.
The fabrics are mostly by Denyse Schmidt, with a few look-alikes thrown in. |
It's beautiful. I'd use it on a bed though. Cloths on the table can get ruined so easily.

Very pretty!!
Beautiful. I agree with your Husband, way too nice for a table.
Hubby is right!
it looks great
If I did use it on the table it would be with vinyl over top of it to protect it. I think it's just lovely.
Super quilt and quilting. Agree with hubby. BrendaK
pretty quilt. love the butterfly quilting.
I agree with your husband - way too pretty to get food all over it.
Too nice for the table! Great work.
That looks great! Nice job!
Pretty quilt! Nice to see that your work is appreciated by your husband.

I think your quilt is lovely in every way. It would look beautiful on a table as well as a bed. I would use it on the table for special occasions; but, I would be careful about what I served for the dinner and not serve any of those foods that could make a permanent stain. I would also consider a vinyl cover when using foods that could stain. It is a win-win if you are just careful in advance. But, use your beautiful quilt for the purpose intended. I would add that I use quilted placemats every day and wash them often. There are no stains on them after very long time use.

Very beautiful. If you are afraid of a spill, any chance it could be used as a wall hanging in your kitchen? Even if you had to accordian it, it would still be beautiful and you'd still get to enjoy it in the busiest room in your house every day.
This sort of idea... https://www.google.ca/search?rls=com...SFuO8xKV6IR8M: Watson |
It's beautiful. I'd be afraid to use that on a table!
I love the vintage look it has. Some of the fabrics look older- great quilt!
I agree with your husband on this one :) |
It's beautiful. Use on table if you want to display it, but I would take it off when eating.
beautiful quilt but i have to agree with your hubby put it on a bed
I love your colours & pattern. I have made many quilted table cloths for both myself & my daughter. We both use them everyday on our tables. Food does get spilled on them but there has never been a problem with stains. If red wine or beet pickle juice gets dribbled on the table cloth I simply spray it & wash. Not a stain on any of them. I would definitely use it as a table cloth.
That is beautiful and I fully agree with your hubby. The only way I would put it on a table is if there was a clear vinyl over it to protect it.
I vote for using it as a tableclothe. That was your intention. it is beautiful and you will enjoy seeing it all the time.
Use it for a table cloth. I make quilts for table cloths all the time. I have a quilted table cloth on my kitchen table all the time. Yes they get food on them at times, so wash them. I love my quilted table cloths.
it's beautiful and I agree with your husband. put it on a bed.
This is very pretty
Beautiful quilt. I agree with your hubby-put it on your bed. If you use it for a table maybe a piece of vinyl would be a good idea to cover it up to prevent any food spots.
I agree with your hubby. That's way too pretty to use as a tablecloth and spill stuff on.
I would try it as a table cloth. The guests will see how beautiful and pay special attention as they share a meal.
I like the idea for the tablecloth. You and others can see it more, a happy quilt!
Too pretty to put food on but perfect to display
Thanks for all the great comments! I was so amazed my husband said it was "beautiful"... He only says my quilts are "nice", usually. I gave him a big hug!
I don't think we'll be having a meal on it. It can be removed before a meal is served. But the kitchen table is our place of gathering, sitting and talking, so it will be nice and cozy for that. As for covering with plastic, I don't think I would because then you lose the cozy feel of all that yummy texture. Don't worry... we won't hurt it! I promise... :) |
I agree about not putting plastic over your tablecloth - plastic just doesn't go with a quilt.
It's beautiful...I would be hesitant to use it as a table cloth too, unless I was using it as a table topper when the table was not being used.
You can use single colored placemats if you use it as a table cloth? And a small runner i the middle or 2 place mats.it works for me and my quilted table clotj
beautiful quilt, I would definitely use it for the bed!
I also think that it's too nice for a table. So pretty.
I agree with hubby-it's so gorgeous!
beautiful quilt---I use quilts on the table all the time--they wash up nice and have never been ruined
I agree with hubby....much too pretty for a table cloth.
Definitely agreeing with your husband on this one - either use on bed or display. Gorgeous quilt!
