I printed out the EQ6 pattern and made one of them. It was fairly easy to do. I haven't squared it up but it doesn't look like it's totally out of whack.

That's gorgeous Pam! You've done an excellent job!

I was trying to decide whether to plow ahead or wait till you'd done one, but I had a sneaky suspicion you'd get it done super quick.

Thank you for sharing the pattern, it's very much appreciated. :-)

Is this the beginnings of another swap ?? I must say you've done a great job on that one.

beachlady 05-15-2009 05:25 AM

That is so cute. Would love a copy if they are available.

sandpat 05-15-2009 05:34 AM

Pam...cute, cute, cute!!!!! Is that a standard pattern in EQ6 or did you draw that??? Of course, I have EQ5..

pittsburgpam 05-15-2009 05:35 AM

DD is leaving on Saturday. I did this at 10:30 last night when everyone was asleep. 8)

I don't know how to get the file into PDF but was it bluechicken who said she could do it? I didn't see right off that there is a way to get it to a printable file in EQ6 but maybe reading the Help would.... help.

I need to try out the boy too but I assume that it's ok if the girl is.

Am I doing a black and white one? Why yes, I believe I will but not for the B&W swap. It's an 8" block

janedennis 05-15-2009 05:44 AM

Love it Would also love to have the pattern when it becomes available, pretty please. My small quilt club would love it.

Ninnie :

DD and I went to Walmart and I found packages of the tiny buttons, 75 to a pack, in Black & White, Pastel, and Brights. My Walmart DOES have a tiny little fabric section so I got several laces and ribbons, looked for anything small scale. I bet scrapbooking would be a good place to look too. The pictures of the original blocks looked like there was a bat and ball on one of them.

Of course, I had to look through my stash for small scale prints, things that would look like jeans, etc.

Yes, I will share them. I really hope though that someone can find out where they came from. There is a lot of years of experience and knowledge on these boards and no one seems to have ever seen them before.

Evelynquilts 05-15-2009 11:16 AM

What a wonderful pattern.... :-)

Cute PDF is the program I use to make PDF's, it's great, just like a virtual printer only instead of a hard copy it asks you for a file name and saves it to pdf.

I've done the pdf's for foundation piecing, and another set for templates. These are for 12" finished blocks.

**note: for anyone printing the templates, one piece has split over two pages, there was no way around it, but it prints with a line of tiny little dots where the two have to join, so you can make sure that you get it matched exactly.**

I haven't actually made one of these yet, but will be locking myself in my dungeon tomorrow to have a go.

I have a vision in my head of scraps of my kid's favourite outfits over the years made into these blocks, what an awesome way to remember and hang onto their childhood.

BlueChicken 05-15-2009 02:31 PM

I forgot to ask Pam what method you used, did you rotary cut them or print templates?

quiltsRfun 05-15-2009 02:37 PM

You're a doll for working out these patterns and sharing them with us. There are so many possibilities for personalizing them. And I like the suggestion someone had to use your child's outgrown clothing to make the blocks. Thanks a bunch for sharing.

Ninnie 05-15-2009 02:48 PM

Thanks BC!
It is so Great of you to do this

I will try them this weekend.

pittsburgpam 05-15-2009 03:22 PM

I printed the templates and marked around them. I have some template material around here somewhere. Thanks for doing the PDFs. I'll have to try the 12" blocks.

BlueChicken 05-15-2009 03:30 PM

What size did you do?

Sorry... I just assumed that 12 was kind of standard so did them all at that.

borntoquilt 05-15-2009 04:19 PM

I too, would like a copy if availabe. Thanks for sharing!

janedennis 05-15-2009 04:38 PM

Thanks so so much everyone for the pattern they are so cute. Cant wait to try my hand.

kluedesigns 05-15-2009 04:48 PM

the blocks the lady posted are 8 inches and i believe pam did them at 8 inches.

i think if you reduce the size to 8 inches the pattern won't fall off the pages.

Ellen 1 05-15-2009 05:23 PM

very cute and looks pretty easy to put together. Good Job!!

BlueChicken 05-15-2009 05:25 PM

Changing the size is easy.... give me ten minutes and I'll post 8" blocks.

:-)
