Well, I spent most of the day straightening up and cleaning my room. I had some boxes and whatnot I had to go thru since we moved in here and lookie what I found!

The blue in this is actually almost the same color as the above

The orange and blue koi, I bought about 2 years ago. I only bought a yard, went back a few days later to get more and it was gone! But, I did find the orange to match with it. Not sure what I will do with the koi and the other blue with the birds on it tho. Just too pretty to cut.

edit...I just noticed I didn't post the blue with the birds. Here we go....

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 01:47 AM

UGH!!! This message board DOES NOT LIKE ME TODAY!!
I looked at the post and the bird one was not there. Now I post the pic again, and it shows up in the original post. ARGH!!!!!!!!!

Tlrnhi, You have FAB fabric taste, I love the bright and exotic feel about your choices...a reflexion of your life I expect.....you see so much of the world travelling....... :D :D

beachlady 04-27-2008 03:08 AM

Now, you had better start sewing. Great fabric - love the electric blues.

Knot Sew 04-27-2008 03:13 AM

Oh they are beautiful.......the colors are so rich. Are they cotton? I would definitely take a small slice of each and make a wall hanging.I see a fan. :D

barnbum 04-27-2008 03:23 AM

Those are unique fabrics. I can't wait to see what you make. After so many years of buying small prints and cutting them into small pieces, I'm starting to look for patterns where I can use bigger pieces. That's what led me to what I called "Sunny Day." It needs one fabric for a larger square, and 5 coordinating ones to make into strips and be cut the same size as the square--it's so easy and they look awesome.

The eyeball one has me stumped--but you will think of something--of that I have no doubt.

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 04:00 AM

I have always loved Japanese themed things, especially with the bright bold colors.
Yes, all the fabric IS cotton,,,none are blends.

I have no clue as of yet what I am going to do with this stuff. Like I said...just too pretty to cut.

The one with the eyeballs, I bought to do a kids quilt using Yellow Brick Road pattern. For some reason, when I went to get the rest of the fat quarters I was looking for, nothing matched the eyeballs, so it's just in my stash.

Cathy M 04-27-2008 04:59 AM

Do the eyeballs glow in the dark?

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 05:05 AM

hmmmm..........dunno....

Lemme go look

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 05:07 AM

nope, they don't glow in the dark

barnbum 04-27-2008 05:16 AM

I think that's a good thing.

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 05:32 AM

me too! lol
That would probably scare some little kid

Izy 04-27-2008 05:34 AM

Hey tlrnhi and Big kids, I spook really easy!!!!!

Izy 04-27-2008 05:35 AM

Personal joke as my maiden name is KIDD!!!!!

Chele 04-27-2008 05:42 AM

Oooohh, pretty! Nice finds! Are you all organized and ready to sew? Isn't that a wonderful feeling?

Oh, I'm really not done with the room. I cleaned out 2 bins and straighted out the armoir. Cleaned off the shelves in the closet, so that's pretty much organized. In between times, I had to sneak peeks at Patches. I printed off a couple patterns that I found online.
Now, I have to straighten up the 2 dressers I have in the room. I did get the piece of carpet on the floor, so when I drop pins, I can find them easier!

Mamagus 04-27-2008 05:56 AM

I love the koi fabric!

We have a koi pond that we started stocking with koi about 5 years ago. Some of them were getting to be quite large and this winter was SO cold we lost them all. All that survived were the Comets... a type of goldfish.

Sigh.... I guess we'll stick with the goldfish!

So do something nice with that fabric... in memory of Diamond Dust, Sunshine, Marmalade, Black Knight, Whisper, Casper and Madame Butterfly!!

Cathy M 04-27-2008 05:59 AM

I have glow in the dark quilting pins. They were on sale at Joann's.

I just don't want to cut the fabric. It's too pretty!

COOL!! I need some of those since we lose power ALL the time!

estherblair 04-27-2008 06:21 AM

Beautiful surprise there girl :) :-) :D

lin 04-27-2008 06:56 AM

Boy, I wish I could find sweet surprises when I clean my room. Pretty much all that jumps out at me are dust bunnies by the truckload though.

I agree. You have wonderful taste in the more exotic fabrics. I'd love a little snip of some of what you've got! :D

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 07:10 AM

Lord only knows what I am going to find when I clean out the dressers.
I do know that my stash of blue and yellow fat quarters are in there somewhere. I need 52 of them for a quilt I am going to make one of these years.

lin 04-27-2008 07:14 AM

I think we should all come over and help you clean out your drawers. I'll bring some fqs to swap. Yanno, "just in case"...

Happy treasure hunting tlr!

jbsstrawberry 04-27-2008 08:12 AM

How cool is that!! Beautiful fabrics girlfriend, kinda like a surprise treasure hunt! You really do have excellent taste. I'm with you on the koi fabric, it would be very hard to cut into that!!

You have no idea just how tempting that is to me, do you? A little Jack Johnson on the CD and something cool and fruity to drink (think little umbrellas here  ) Of course, we'd talk quilting too. LOL

Yes, Izy...you can come too!!

Chele 04-27-2008 02:27 PM

I want to come too! I'll fly to Spain with a suitcase full of fabric, pick up Izy for some sightseeing and the fabric drop off, then we'll bop over to Guam. Can I borrow some clothes when I get there?!! Lin, where are you so I can get you too?

wraez 04-27-2008 02:31 PM

oooohhhhh, love those fabrics! You and I have the same tastes, I love Oriental fabrics too and have been collecting them. Only thing I don't have is koi and I was looking for some in my stash.

What fun it is to find these surprises. I desperately need to straighten and clean my stash / studio, I don't think my treasure chest is gonna have the same lovely surprises as your did.

hugs sue

bebe 04-27-2008 02:32 PM

Use the pretty blue birds as a center fabric or fussy cut into large pieces. You could also make a pretty pillow or 2 with it!!!!

I'm in NW Arkansas, and I'm already packed. *tap, tap, tap*...you'll be here soon, right?

Chele 04-27-2008 04:10 PM

Just needed to know where to land first, lin! I'm there! I'm just packing fabric. We can keep washing my "uniform/outfit" until we get to Guam! I shouldn't waste valuable suitcase room on clothes! LOL!
