Thinking outside the box...

2 Attachment(s)
I am always looking for ways to think outside the box when it comes to quilting fabrics. Yesterday I found a fabric sample book at the antique store. It was $6.00. As you can see by the photo that I was able to get the silks out of the book and cut them into 9 1/2 inch sqs. It will be a wall hanging.
What do you think?

This is going to be beautiful. What a great idea. I think outside the box also and sometimes people think I am nuts before they see the finished product.

Gorgeous fabric! Great! What a bargain too!

Rose_P 07-15-2012 01:20 PM

It will be much more beautiful hanging on a wall than sitting in an old book out of sight. Maybe some featherstitching at the seams would be appropriate. The fabrics remind me of old-timey crazy quilts.

I rescued a much more recent fabric sample book a few years ago, and would love to play with the fabrics, but found that they are attached to paper on the back using some kind of thick glue, and I haven't found any way to get that off.

You amaze me. Looks like you fussy-cut the squares, but know you could not have.
It will be exquisite when complete.
