you go K :D scrappy quilts are great! I agree with the others keep the block quiet until you have the quilt done or some of the ladies might not be so free with their scraps. On the other hand scrappy quilts just aren't some peoples cup of tea and you might keep getting their scraps anyway :D
Can't imagine throwing material away, shame on them but great for you!

I have a cardboard box in my sewing room that I toss anything over an inch or so into. I have another one that is for trash so I can just carry it down to the bin when it's full.

I'm thinking that some of those tiny scraps, little slivers even that are taken off when squaring, would probably make nice stuffing for something if they are all scredded into bits.

Bev here's what I'd do if I were you - sort those scraps into longish thinnish bits, bigger squarish bits and tiny bits - but big enough for a seam! The long thin bits I would make into strings of 1 1/2" or 2/ 12" wide to use for strippy or log cabin, or even scrappy sashing. The bigger squares I would keep for more general scrappy - like that 9 patch you did a while back for example. And the smaller bits - I'd make a ton of crumby blocks, by the method in Izy's tute of say 3 or 4" square (depending on what size square rulers you've got!) Then you can join them all together with sashing et voila! One crazy quilt!
