I decided over New Years to attempt to make a quilt. Nothing big (60x60), nothing fancy. I decide to make the Quilt in One Day - Log Cabin from the book by the same name.
Borrowed a sewing machine since I was in S. Alabama, and went to work. I first went down to Hancocks in Mobile to select fabric. Nothing like the fabric stores in California, it was certainly cheaper! The top is doable in one day.... But the rest... I stayed on California time. Anyhow here is my quilt in three days. Log Cabin in the 'All Sevens' configuration. This is my first totally complete quilt, binding and all. tim in san jose Backside. |
Wow , that's very pretty . Nice and bright. Annie

Tim,
That's a luscious quilt! The colors remind me of wine and grape juice! Just yummy! Great job! Gotta love Eleanor and her "Quilt it a Day" books! |
Wow! A pretty quickie! The fabrics are so nice together. Great workmanship too. And it's DONE! Woo hoo! :D :D :D Make more!
|
Congrats on your first complete quilt! Gorgeous! Love the red and purple. I also have a red and purple quilt in the making and have been worried that it might be "too much," but now that I see yours looking so good, I am encouraged to continue with mine!

Tim, that is so awesome!! I love EB...she's my favorite!
|
i like your quilt very much.
the colors are great. i love all the eleanor burns patterns, they are user friendly, and i need that  |
The very first quilt class I took was doing this pattern and method, back in the olden days. I remember turning the quilts right-side up after batting was added. (It was a loooooong day and I didn't finish). One lady in the class did get a crib quilt done, but I just cannot manage a bed-size quilt in a day.
Thanks for the memories. And thank you Ginny, wherever you are. |
Ohhh I just love it!!! All my favorite colors! You did a beautiful job!!

So you were here in my neck of the woods, and you didn't stop by???

Nice quilt Tim. I have so many quilts that I want to make!!! The list is endless. I like the log cabin and want to do one sometime soon. I have so much fabric that I can choose from also. My sister made one with the burgandies and blues. I just loved it. I might have to stop everything else and see what designs of fabric I have and start one!! All these lovely quilts being posted. Makes me want to just sew, sew, sew.
Great job!! Barb |

I like the colors and pattern. You did a good job. That's a good size for snuggling under watching a movie or television. I did 2 in that size last year.

NICE!! I love the light to dark progression. Log Cabins will always be a favorite of mine. I bought a book on more tricky ones for Christmas--by Judy Martin. Hope they're not too tricky.
Have you made other LC? I'd love to see them. |
