Beautiful and a great bargain. Cute little girl quilt.
It's it fun to look it all over and try to decide what to make - what patterns to use to show off the fabrics the best - Enjoy!!
I am soooo jealous. I never find such a great buy and I look frequently in our local thrift stores as well as when we travel. :-(
Nice find!
Lucky girl you are
Just look at all that fabric...lucky, lucky you!!
Good for you. You can make dog/cat beds out of the coduroy and stuff them with thread and fabric scraps and donate them to a animal. Or you can donate to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in south Dakota. they have a lot of needs.
I love your find .... especially the butterflies. |
You lucky duck! Great finds! :)
What luck! I have never found anything like that at any of our area thrift shops.
Nice stash builder.

Way to go, on your treasure find.
Really neat find.
What a great find and the fun to go with it!
My girls were into Vegie Tales too, but not until they were in high school. All the kids were into it for a while. |
Well did you go back for the corduroy? Everyone seems to think you should so why not. Call and ask her to hold it for you so you know it will be still there when you go. Have fun, I just made a find at the pound store once again with piles of material mostly cotton all from a store I think that went out of business with samples and info on each section, pieces so you can make a small card table cover to smaller sizes.

Hope your planning a return vist, and can't wait to see what you make with all the butterflies
wow !! what a great find
I see all these great thrift store finds but so far have never explored that avenue. Might have to try. Sort of like winning the lottery--you have to buy a ticket!
What a great "haul"!! I think that little girl's quilt is so sweet...and for 2 dollars I would have had to grab it up, too!!
I think you did very well!
Awesome find, aren't they the best!
You had an excellent find today. Looking forward to seeing your creations from your good fortune (smile). Thank you for sharing.

Consider Project Linus for your little girl quilt

I bought the corduroy. My guild will use it for backings. One of the corduroys isn't corduroy, though. That one is nice, but the back of it is a solid blue that I like much better than the 'pretty side'. Might have to snip some of that one off for my stash!
Also found a panel in the pile of fabric with about 10 patriotic squares (all the same). Most has been donated to my quilt guild 'specialist' in quilts for soldiers/veterans. Kept a few to make up into quilts, but can't face the prospect of doing 10 of them. Plus, the fabric was from 1990. I think it sat in storage tubs long enough! Gave the veggie tales panel away - I didn't like it and knew I would never make anything with it. I'm old enough to know that if I don't like a fabric I won't use it. There is a set of golf fabrics that I know my nephew in law would love made up into a quilt. But I think my niece would be jealous if I made a quilt for him before I make one for her! |
Yep! Go back and get the corduroy. You can even make reusable grocery bags out of it.
Great find.
Great find...I never find fabric at my favorite thrift shop

Well, I've had small finds, but this one felt like "the big one"! Was driving to an antique store to look around, no purchases in mind. On the way, I saw a thrift store that I'd not been in before. So I turned into the store parking and went in. Within minutes I found two tubs of fabric. Spent over an hour looking through, sorting into "buy" and "don't buy" piles. The sales person came over to see if I needed help, so I asked could i get a bulk price, which meant I would have carried all home with me. That offer was declined.
Bottom line is that I picked out a lot of fabric and bought it for $28. The thrift store is dedicated to funding a charity, so I insisted that I be allowed to pay $10 more. Beleive me, I did ok even with paying the extra $10. Some of the fabric is poly/cotton, but most is 100% cotton. I sorted it for washing on my garage floor and took a picture or two. Also rescued a cute little girls quilt for $2. Now I have to find a home for it...no toddler girls in my family, but sooner or later it will find a child to love. I left behind three large pieces of pinwhale corduroy coordinates. Probably about 15 yards total. I really had to think about that because they are soft enough to make nice quilt backings. Am still thinking about them... If I get the pictures to load, take a look. Go get the corduroy! Good job on what you got so far! |
