Just got back from a thrift store and found my very first vintage quilt to buy! I don't know anything about it, but it's GORGEOUS, and the workmanship is amazing. I'm so inspired! The edges are frayed and a few of the triangles are worn through. The batting is medium thick.
Any input is welcome, I am not well versed on these pretty ladies but I would love to learn! It's Queen size with a single sheet size backing of muslin type material. I just knew I wanted to find a completely handmade one that struck me as pretty. The same fabric failed consistently. The maroon ones. |

Ohhhh what a treasure....if only quilts could talk

Congratulations on your find!!! THAT is a beautiful quilt!

Interestingly, I've heard some say that a lot can be hidden with good quilting and this beauty brought that home! The triangles edges often overlap (not something I'd do in my current piecing practices) but this quilter just adjusted his/her top quilting to hide that.
The overall effect looks commercial even! But close inspection shows the hand sewing (obviously). |
Glad the "pretty lady" found a good home with you.

Beautiful!

She's a beauty!!!!!!!!! By the way, it's called Ocean Waves.
All you have to do is applique over the damaged ones. I would try to get fabric from that era if possible. Congratulations!! :D:D |
