Is this too busy... does it give your eyeballs a headache???
These are strips of material only, no piece work.

hairquilt 05-23-2012 03:03 PM

Too busy for me but I am so traditional!!

I'm "traditional", too, but these aren't too busy for me. What'cha gonna do with them?

coopah 05-23-2012 03:24 PM

The one on the left works, but the one on the right is intense. Still like it, though. Which is your fav, ThreadHead?

EvelynJ 05-23-2012 03:28 PM

Threadhead, I like them, they are visually very interesting. These would look great in an office lobby or in a long formal style entry way. Definately conversation pieces.

mom-6 05-23-2012 03:30 PM

The one on the left is great!

The one on the right the outer rows work very well, but then as you go toward the center it loses the pattern of the block in the various prints. Perhaps if you used a smaller print to play with the red...and reversed the order of the two rounds that form complete diamonds...not sure if that would do it or not.

I like the one on the left the best. The one on the right has too much going on. I might be able to tone it down a little. I'll go back in and change it around a tad.
I make them for my older kids 53, 54, and 56, and grandkids. I have a 7 year old granddaughter who thinks she's a diva and tries to dress one. She likes the one on the left too. lol

The one on the left makes your eye dance too much - it's lacking a focal point. However, the one on the right, IMHO, is less chaotic. Thanks for sharing.

Neesie 05-23-2012 05:36 PM

I like the first one but the second one makes me want to look away.

sewgarden 05-23-2012 06:08 PM

I think they are beautiful

barny 05-23-2012 06:26 PM

I like both of them. I love color.

debcavan 05-23-2012 06:57 PM

They remind me of jewels for some reason. Not to busy for me.

mudsprite 05-23-2012 09:44 PM

What are the sizes of the quilts please? Visually one on the right seems to lose the design as there isn't enough contrast (for me) to make each of the inner designs distinct - and at the same time show the relationship between
all the fabrics used which for me loses cohesion. That said, I do not have the artistic freedom you show and tend to stick to more staid patterns (cluck, cluck - chicken). Like the one on the left best. Anymore I let the people I am making quilts for choose fabric and pattern and make improvements I think necessary to work.

BETTY62 05-23-2012 09:52 PM

I like the way they they look. They are very unique. The colors are bright and beautiful.

jackied 05-23-2012 10:09 PM

Both are pretty but the one on the right is sort of confusing.

rebeljane 05-24-2012 01:40 AM

The one on the left is my choice

SheriR 05-24-2012 04:05 AM

Well I love them both! I admire the time you've spent making each like square so exact. Even your mitered corners are perfect. I wouldn't change a thing on either. You do beautiful work!

cuppi duke 05-24-2012 05:35 AM

I like it very much but then I am not a tradional quilter. Just do it though and go with what you like. I like them both.

Homespun 05-24-2012 06:09 AM

They look good to me!

Laura22 05-24-2012 08:09 AM

A little busy for my personal style but I think they are pretty

They are both about 75 square even tho the pics don't look like it.

Scakes 05-25-2012 03:26 AM

I like both of them. Very nice.

Cacklinghen 05-25-2012 03:44 AM

They are beautiful--like'm both!!

Cindy60545 05-25-2012 04:17 AM

#1 is very appealing to me, #2 loses the diamond pattern. I think it should be different if you want it to stand out more. It's very interesting tho.

QUILTNMO 05-25-2012 04:38 AM

nice but im a tradional quilter

wendiq 05-25-2012 07:25 AM

I, too, like the one on the left. Not sure why I don't care for the one on the right.....it just seems "scrambled" to my eyes. But it would work as a wall hanging in a large space. It's just not restful to me, but sometimes restful is not what is always needed. What do you plan to do with these?

I like EvelynJ's reply. Yes, they do need to be in a STARK area, nothing else around them to make a visual impact!

roseirish48 05-25-2012 10:11 AM

wow! love the vibrancy--wouldnt change a thing!

kiffie2413 05-25-2012 10:20 AM

At first I thought the one on the left...but went back and really looked, and I actually like them both..when you say no piecing, only fabric strips, do you mean you somehow cut all the fabrics where it looks like individual pieces, but actually they aren't? I usually "get" things, but this is "getting" me!! :p
Regards,
Kif

Greenheron 05-25-2012 10:51 AM

I don't find them busy.....I think they have a very folksy, ethnic vibe.....I especially like the medallion.

laynak 05-25-2012 12:55 PM

Potential centerpieces for medallion quilts?

lmc8 05-25-2012 02:09 PM

Not enough color contrast in either for my taste.

grandme26 05-25-2012 03:03 PM

I like the both.

Seaside gal 05-25-2012 07:57 PM

I like them both but prefer the one on the right. I think it is beautiful. Nice colors. Very dramatic.

ruthie 05-25-2012 08:01 PM

I like both of them.

toi123 05-26-2012 11:32 AM

I love them both. When you cover one up and look at the other separately, there is no "dueling" going on. They are beautiful.

Blinkokr 05-26-2012 11:45 AM

Too busy for me Have a Blessed day Ellen

solstice3 05-27-2012 03:42 AM

mighty 05-28-2012 07:08 AM

oldquilter 05-28-2012 11:20 AM
