Is this too "funky"...

...for a baby quilt?

I like it but my husband says it is "kinda funky".

I figure they aren't little babies forever. And, they can always turn it over.

What do you think? Feel free to be honest. I can' always give them a more traditional pastel one.

PS...Quilting on the blocks isn't done yet...I ran out of bobbin thread so figured I'd bind it since I had that thread.

There is nothing wrong with it. I like the colors and the design as well.

Granna of 5 08-02-2018 05:43 AM

I believe babies like bright colors. I think it is very cheerful. Like it.

sewbizgirl 08-02-2018 05:47 AM

Not 'funky' at all... building blocks are perfect for babies. It's beautiful and so is your quilting.

SillySusan 08-02-2018 06:42 AM

Funky? Then I guess I really like funky!! It's great!

Tartan 08-02-2018 06:50 AM

Cute quilt and not funky to me!

QuiltnNan 08-02-2018 06:50 AM

not at all... it's bright and cheerful

Three Dog Night 08-02-2018 06:53 AM

Not too funky, babies love bright colors.

annievee 08-02-2018 06:58 AM

I like it, good job !

bevm 08-02-2018 07:00 AM

I like the colors...it's unique! I like unique.

sash 08-02-2018 07:07 AM

I think any baby would love it.

feline fanatic 08-02-2018 07:25 AM

Tumbling blocks is probably one of the most quintessential patterns for baby quilts and I love your color choices. Sometimes when my DH isn't crazy about something I made (usually boils down to he doesn't like those colors) he makes statements like that.

JanelleTrebuna 08-02-2018 07:40 AM

I love it! :) The quilting is beautiful as well.

Sallybear6 08-02-2018 07:56 AM

I think it is beautiful and any child would love it!

A terrific quilt for baby! Great colors too~

bunbytes 08-02-2018 08:26 AM

Not funky to me. Like the colors.

elnan 08-02-2018 08:27 AM

It looks to me like you have 100 percent approval. I am in the camp that says
Babies like color.
When my husband and I married 31 years ago, his teenage son was still making his bed with a ragged, crib-sized Sunbonnet Sue quilt made by a step-grandmother whom he called Grammy. It was made with love for him and him only and he knew that.

laughingquilter 08-02-2018 08:36 AM

Well, I've never thought of "funky" as a bad thing!!! I like the colors and love that they're not the sky blue/pastel pink, etc. I think it's great!!

sprice 08-02-2018 08:49 AM

I love the colors--nice job!

jlt37869 08-02-2018 09:52 AM

Looks good!

anonymous 08-02-2018 10:07 AM

Don't over think it. It is bright, cheerful and perfect for any baby. The colors are great together and work well with that pattern. It is a winner!

cashs_mom 08-02-2018 10:13 AM

I think its adorable! I love the colors!

zozee 08-02-2018 10:31 AM

It doesn't strike me as "funky" at all. When I think "funky" I think wonky, strange, unusual, wild, in-your-face bright, and other adjectives. Blue and yellow together is a classic color combo. Tumbling blocks is a classic pattern. (And babies love to be able to perceive pattern.) Tossing the bright dots in there was a fun element, but certainly not "funky." Besides, you have put a lot of thought and love into this particular quilt for this little man, so I say give it to him!

QuiltE 08-02-2018 11:14 AM

Not Funky .... just plain Fun! :)

However, some parents are so into coordination now-a-days,
that if it doesn't match their theme, colours, style, and so on, it seems they don't want it.

Hope that your recipients are not of that type ... and are delighted with your gift.

toverly 08-02-2018 11:28 AM

Dh's aren't the best judge. Mine has a tendency to look at one fabric in the quilt and go, I don't like that fabric. As if I could trade it out after quilting and binding. Anyway, it looks great. It's bright and cheery. Funky can be good.

BrendaK 08-02-2018 11:31 AM

LOVE IT. Didn't really mean to shout but I think it's super. Colors, pattern and quilting are great. BrendaK

I agree - it's a classic pattern - blocks for kids are perfect. And I love the colors popping, so will the baby. I say it's an A+. Go for it!

cathyvv 08-02-2018 12:56 PM

I like it, and would give it for a baby quilt.

suern3 08-02-2018 01:40 PM

Love the colors and the blocks! Great baby quilt!

P-BurgKay 08-02-2018 03:24 PM

It looks great. I think it is fine for a baby quilt.

Jingle 08-02-2018 03:50 PM

It is beautiful a baby will love it.

JustAbitCrazy 08-02-2018 06:32 PM

It's awesome, not funky at all. I don't know what his definition of funky is, but to me, your quilt is beautiful. No funky anywhere.

copycat 08-03-2018 01:36 AM

Love this! The print fabric reminds me of candy sprinkles you see on cupcakes! I like your quilting designs. Please show us when you are finished.

WMUTeach 08-03-2018 02:47 AM

I agree with you. Babies are babies for just a short time and a toddler and preschooler for a whole lot longer. I seldom make baby quilts with "baby" fabric because the children grow, and grow and grow and often like to take that special old friend quilt along to the next stage of childhood.

LGJARN52 08-03-2018 03:39 AM

The yellow adds just the right amount of "wow" color to the quilt to draw a baby's attention. The child will love it!

quilterpurpledog 08-03-2018 04:06 AM

I like it. Fabric choices are so nicely coordinated around the print. I think it is just perfect for a baby quilt.

2manyhobbies 08-03-2018 04:32 AM

The baby won’t know the difference, and the parents will love it.

janjanq 08-03-2018 04:50 AM

I think the colors are great for any age!

julybaby8 08-03-2018 04:58 AM

It’s modern and fresh !

institches33 08-03-2018 04:58 AM
