Sob!
I spent two days making this baby quilt for a shower gift for a baby boy, and it turned out HIDEOUS. The bohemian modern look I was going for was an EPIC FAIL. Something about the mix of baby prints with the dark masculine prints just Did. Not. Work. Hubby has been encouraging me to give it anyway, as it's a nice usable cozy quilt, but is it too darned ugly to give away? |
I disagree with you. I do not think it is ugly, in fact I like it. However, it is unusual, and you may not wish to give it as planned, if you have real concern that the Mom or others at the shower will not react well. Only you can decide!!
I think you are being too critical of the outcome. It is unique and cute.
I don't know about the rest but I like it!! A lot, it is very homey and comforting looking. I think ya did a wonderful job!
I like it..it is a quilt a kid can Grow UP with!
It an excellent quilt for baby. Lots of interesting textures and colors.
There is nothing that says a baby quilt has to be pale pink or blue...I would rather make something a five year old will still like and not be a baby!
Truly unique. If you decide not to give it as a shower gift, you could always donate to Project Linus. Just a thought.
I like it.
I like it too. Give it as a gift. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It's very cute.
Nothing wrong with it. Looks like a quilt that will get used.
I think you should go ahead and give it to the baby, who will love it to death!
I like it. It's perfect for a little boy to use as a "drag-along" blankie as he gets older. I rarely make baby quilts in the traditional pink, blue, yellow, pale green. I want something the baby can also use when they've outgrown baby things.
Hey, I like it. It is so "Boy Baby". And, like others have mentioned, it will grow up with him. I also agree that if you really do feel uncomfortable giving it as planned, you may consider donating it to a charity. That way, you could feel 'really' good about it.
i like it and i think you got the boho look down except for the cartoon print, which still goes and sets it apart as a kids blanket. nothing wrong with it.
I like the quilt, I agree with hubby, give it to them!!

The quilt is beautiful. It looks like a fall quilt. I like the similarity in the rectangles.
not seeing ugly here. that is very cute
This is a wonderful quilt. I've learned so much in my quilt deliveries to the local hospitals for Project Linus. Children have a unique sense of style. It never fails---the quilts that I worry about are the ones they grab first!! Believe me, this lovely quilt that you crafted sure would be popular. Nice job!!!!
i like it also
Present it as play pad. My granddaughters loved getting something that wasn't meant to be pampered. The baby will like the colors and squares to roll around on. I do like it.
Ok so it's different, that's what quilting is about making things that are unique. I feel it has a very homespun/country feel to it and I disagree with it being ugly, I like it a lot. If you feel the mom to be isn't into the comfy, homey type of stuff then maybe hold this back for a mom that is. But the one you made is worth giving and is a great baby quilt. Only you can decide.
I think you are right up with the times!
Japanese people would adore your quilt! I love it and you should give it with pride! |
I've looked at the pictures and can't find the ugly part or hideous part!!! Would you mind pointing them out to me so I can see them, too???
Personally, I like it. But if you can't bring yourself to give it to the person that it was intended for, you might consider donating it to Quilts for Kids. |
I like it a lot!! It is charming and I think that little person will adore it for years!! It really is a sweet quilt!!
I say give it, I'd love to have a quilt like that
Looks great to me!

it's cute!

 It's not ugly. I like it.
I hope you give it... some of my kids best loved quilts and blankets were not the fancy store bought ones. They will love it.
Thankfully we all have different tastes. What you think is ugly, the parents and the baby may just go gaga over.
There is NO such thing as an ugly quilt. Who ever recieves this will be warm and blessed I am sure. I love the colors.
I really like it and would have appreciated my child receiving a quilt like this which he can use for years rather than a really babyish one which will be put away after the first year. It greatly depends on the mother, though. Perhaps you should show it to her and gauge her reaction. If she doesn't seem too enthusiastic, It would probably be best to save it for someone like me!!

I've got to say that I like it too! It is unique but as others have said it is a quilt that can be used as the child matures. All I can say is that if someone made something "just for me" I would treasure it. I would go ahead and give it!
I think it's cute! A child would really love that quilt!
I think it's great!!!! I love the colors in it.
I love it! Just made for a boy!
