Very striking! It looks great as is, or perhaps add a black border-? It would make a lovely throw......:)

kateyb 11-23-2012 09:00 AM

This is beautiful. I would add a black binding and call it good. I think it would make a great lap quilt.

hildie 11-23-2012 09:04 AM

I think it is lovely. A black border around with scraps (if you have any of the inside colors) would be a nice finish. I don't worry about size anymore- as far as I'm concerned, there are no rules of right or wrong with size. This would make a wonderful cuddle up and read, watch TV, etc. quilt. Do what makes YOU happy!!!!

broomstix 11-23-2012 09:10 AM

My first thought too , was a black border. very beautiful quilt.

Delilah 11-23-2012 09:40 AM

I was thinking along the lines of Tartan but my thought was to remove a row, add the borders and binding, but to make a table runner of the row removed. You can consider that if you think putting another row on the bottom of the quilt would make it too long compared to it's width.

wyldhare17 11-23-2012 09:43 AM

hehe..i agree..a blk border...its lovely work...

MimiBug123 11-23-2012 09:43 AM

I would do a simple black border. It is absollute perfection. I love your color choices!

iwillquilt 11-23-2012 09:46 AM

This is lovely. I have one fq bundle of this style fabric and haven't decided what to do with it. I don't feel I have enough to do a complete quilt but I am not sure what to add. I am now thinking solid black is a great idea. I can't wait to see your finished project.

MargeD 11-23-2012 10:25 AM

What a beautiful, striking quilt - I would add a black border just to frame it.

northern lass 11-23-2012 10:44 AM

It's gorgeous. I think binding it in black would make it zing!

quiltmom04 11-23-2012 11:51 AM

What did you intend it for? If it was specifically for a bed, you'll have to add some. But if it was just a throw- which is a great size for a good, cozy throw, I think it's fine!

I would put that one in a pillow.

Tartan has expressed just what I was thinking.......there's nothing wrong with a square quilt, but most uses in my life are rectangular, ie bed shape or napping on the couch. So I tend to make rectangular quilts, even tho the pattern is for a square. And I agree about the coloring in the bottom right block.

Thats what I would do also, I never make square quilts......

charlottemarie 11-23-2012 06:36 PM

It would make a lovely wallhanging.

I concur a black border would work if you want it larger. Otherwise what wrong with an odd size quilt? Love your Fasset fabric by the way. Your quilt's great.

kittiebug 11-24-2012 04:11 AM

Very nice,love your colors..

jpmaroni 11-24-2012 04:27 AM

Wow, my favorite kind of quilt! Simple black border and Viola! Thanks for sharing.

lizzy 11-24-2012 04:57 AM

I love bright colors. This is beautiful. I have had the same problem as you. I would finish the quilt as it and use it with pleasure on a sofa or just across a bed if you need a splash of color in a bedroom. If you decide to add black borders, make the quilt longer than it is wide. That may give it a more pleasing look to you. I love it.

This was exactly my thought too. Whenever I see a design for a square quilt, I always plan on adding another row or two to make it a quilt shape, because square just doesn't fit into my "mental images" of a quilt, if you can understand that.

Agree with this post. It is a great quilt whatever you do!

mjhaess 11-24-2012 07:22 AM

It is beautiful.....Do what you want with the size...it is your quilt and it can be whatever you want it to be....

sunnymom 11-24-2012 07:26 AM

I think a black border would really be nice. It would really frame the bright, beautiful colors in the quilt! :)

KarenR 11-24-2012 07:34 AM

Looks wonderful.
I would add a border to it of black.

This is nice to know - maybe make a not on the pattern to add one more roll at the bottom.

Thanks all for your wonderful ideas.
It is now done and "sealed".

I like the idea of a square quilt for this, because of the symmetry of it, it is reminiscent of Chinese lattice windows:)
It is 77 inch square. I will use it as a wall hanging or a throw or a quilt for a petite lady. I'm sure it will do fine.

I've depleted my last bit of Kona espresso cotton. So I cannot bind it until I get my hands on some.
You know, I can't just drive down to Joann's! LOL...

Thanks again. You guys are wonderful!

Maralyn 11-24-2012 09:50 AM

I agree with the black border and feel that someone will love this quilt.

Taughtby Grandma 11-24-2012 10:16 AM

I love the brightness of it. It would work on a twin size or over the back of the couch for watching TV.

Sewbeeit2 11-24-2012 05:35 PM

What a beauty.

I agree with framing it out with a 5 inch border and 7 inch top and bottom border and bind in black too..love Kona cotton to keep color and works very well. Good luck

ging10ging 11-24-2012 05:40 PM

It's very pretty colors a black border would probably finish it off and also it would be a nice size to throw over a chair and it's pretty. Sue

Nonna Judi 11-24-2012 07:28 PM

I love the colors! A black border would do well to solve your dilema.

1screech 11-24-2012 07:48 PM

I love the quilt and the fabric. You could always donate it to a charity to be auctioned off as a fund raiser...or you could just send it to me. :)

suzanprincess 11-25-2012 04:22 AM

Your added borders finish your quilt nicely. I think it would be the perfect size for a nap quilt, and after reading through this thread I've decided the nap quilt I want to make for myself should be not only bright and colorful like yours, but also this size. I want to be able to cover both shoulders and toes, and the width would accommodate a cat or two as well (one of my kitties likes "unders" any time, and another likes to snuggle under a blanket with me all winter long).

Glad you like it:)

I wanted to edit the first post to include the latest I've done to the quilt.
But it wouldn't let me edit it.
So thank you ladies for your ideas. The latest design is posted in page 7.

mrsaj11 11-25-2012 05:26 AM

love it, i like the idea of a black binding as well, LOVE THE COLORS!

solstice3 11-25-2012 02:12 PM

I would add a border replicating the border around the squares
