What a supurb job. If you need more practice you can make me one. HAHAHAHA
Wow! Look at the nice job you did on the applique stitching, if I could do that great of a job. Love the colors!!!
Beautiful! I would do something simple so it won't take away from your beautiful work.
Dragon flies have two wings on each side more to the top of the body and quite long. These are butterflies. And such pretty butterflies
Beautiful
very nice. looks like butterflies to me.
Gorgeous! My suggestions are to echo stitch around the bugs and if your machine has special stitches, perhaps one of the curvy ones in a line down the middle of all the sashings and maybe twice along the purple border. No matter what you do, it will stil be lovely!
Very cute quilt. I'd just do some echo quilting around the appliques and some free form leaves and vines up the sashing. My motto is KISS (Keep it simple Susan!)
I would echo around each shape...about 1/4" from each other, out to the edges of the block. Or you could use the echos to show movement of the dragonflies.
a very pretty quilt--great job!
Looks like butterflies to me. Dragonflies have smaller wings and a much longer body.
Print or sketch one of the blocks, then make copies and doodle on it until you find a design you like. Vines and leaves are pretty easy and very forgiving. If you mess one up, who can tell? They'd also fit in well with the "theme" of this quilt. It's very pretty, by the way and I would have guessed them to be butterflies as well.
That is so pretty. How about machine SID around each block and handquilting around the appliques including those on the borders.
Wow that is beautiful. I thought they were butterflies, too, until I read all of your post. They are so pretty even though they are not butterflies. You do beautiful work.
I would do the quarter inch from the frame of each block. Keeping it simple so as not to detract from the lovely applique. I too think they are butterflies as TeddyB said. Dragonflies have both wings coming from up by their heads and have long skinny back portions of their bodys.
Your quilt is adorable, whatever the bugs are. Smiles and hugggggggs |
I really... really.. like this.
Love the quilt!! Great job...I think the quilting would depend on how much quilting you like in the quilt. My favorite is stippling but if you are not comfortable with that, echoing the dragonflies or the inside lattice would be fine too.
I love this quilt and I thought they were butterflies when I saw them too. Oh well..... You did a great job, your applique is wonderful.
so pretty!!!
This quilt is so cute and your applique work is fantastic. If you hadn't said anything, I would have said butterflies too. Sorry, no advice on quilting, not my strong suit. Keep up the good work.
Bedautiful!!!!

sew nice!!

At the top is the name of the child who will recieve it but since that won't be until Christmas, I can't reveal it now. LOL This was a very fun quilt to make. I will put the printed dragonfly fabric on the back and bind it with the same purple as the sashing. I just am not sure how to quilt this. I don't do very well at stippling and am at a lost as to how to start the quilting. Can I get some suggestions? Sending it out to have it quilted is not an option.
Funny thing about this quilt...when we saw the fabric, we thought it was butterflies until I was halfway finished with the quilt top and was showing it to my sisters and brother. They all said it was dragonflies so I had to change my mind concept on it. LOL I like it no matter what the bugs are!! Thanks for your help!!! So cute and you applique work is stunning! |
I see why you thought they were butterflies; I do too.
I would probably just do an echo around each "bug" and flower. You could do 1/4"-1/2" round and round. Is your blanket stitch by hand? You did an amazing job on this quilt! |
Look like butterflies to me, but whatever you want to call them, they are very pretty. Nice colors, great job on the applique and it is just a lovely quilt. ;)
Very pretty!
I would do some meandering background design so the butterflies & flowers will puff up and stand out. |
Looks like butterflies to me...
Butterflies or dragonflies... it's a beautiful quilt either way! |
Awesome
Very nice. How do you get your stitching on your appliques so neat....I'm just starting out.

Beautiful, whatever you call them! I think they are butterflies too.
