As everyone already has said, ditto!!! Delightful story. I was noticing the applique, was it hand drawn and cut out and appliqued? If so that is even more talent. Unbelieveable!!! Thank you for sharing this with us. You are so blessed.

Think of the feelings we have when we look back on commemorative quilts of 100 years ago; this one is well on it's way toward that stature for the next generation. Find a way to label it with the story you've told us; a museum someday will thank you. It's wonderful!

I think it was hand drawn. My MIL can't really speak too well and is terribly confused. She wouldn't remember anymore. She always drew her appliques, so I'm assuming she did this one, too. She was such a talented lady! She owned a bakery in Chicago and made beautiful cakes and pastries. Then she started quilting and taught classes at local junior colleges. She was really something, and to see her brought down by Alzheimers is so heartbreaking. She's now 90 yrs. old and still healthy, but the Alzheimers has stolen so much from her life.
