As everyone already has said, ditto!!! Delightful story. I was noticing the applique, was it hand drawn and cut out and appliqued? If so that is even more talent. Unbelieveable!!! Thank you for sharing this with us. You are so blessed.

YES YES -- what she said, exactly! Wow, that's fantastic, in every way. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Your quilt is beautiful. So glad you were able to have it finished. A future family heirloom for sure.

I think it was hand drawn. My MIL can't really speak too well and is terribly confused. She wouldn't remember anymore. She always drew her appliques, so I'm assuming she did this one, too. She was such a talented lady! She owned a bakery in Chicago and made beautiful cakes and pastries. Then she started quilting and taught classes at local junior colleges. She was really something, and to see her brought down by Alzheimers is so heartbreaking. She's now 90 yrs. old and still healthy, but the Alzheimers has stolen so much from her life.

Your MIL did all this in her adult life. Cake making, quilting, drawing, teaching quilting classes at comm. colleges. Her mind was always being used in some way, never idle until this dreadful disease took over. You hear all the time to keep your brain active to keep the big "A" away. Ninety yrs. old is a good mature age and all the love and talent that came from those loving hands. Though she is worn with Alzheimers, this treasured item and no telling how many more she has created, will be remembered and enjoyed by so many.
