This quilt means the world to us. My MIL pieced it with her sister and some friends for the "76 bicentennial but never completed it. She is in a nursing home with Alzheimers now. A few years ago, I asked my mom if she would finish it for us. She handquilted it for us and did a beautiful job! So, the quilt is made by both of our mothers. Each block represents a special event in US history. It's queen sized. Both of our moms are excellent quilters.

This is the kind of quilt that should be photographed, appraised, documented, and labeled! Think of the feelings we have when we look back on commemorative quilts of 100 years ago; this one is well on it's way toward that stature for the next generation. Find a way to label it with the story you've told us; a museum someday will thank you. It's wonderful!

Aren't there just some things that cry out "finish me please!" This is certainly one, what workmanship! Everyone who quilts, appliques and does handwork can appreciate all that effort. Thanks for sharing.

First, that is a beautiful quilt. But it's made even better by the family history involved in it. What a wonderful family heirloom. Thanks for sharing it with us.
