OMG! this is an amazing quilt!!!!! Treasure it and think of your moms....you are so very lucky to have this wonderful quilt!
Exquisite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What Jan said. PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE....label the quilt. I have [said this before] a quilt passed to me from my mother's home that has no label. There are two blocks with Mom's signature embroidered on them and a lot of other names I am not familiar with. What I wouldn't give to know more about the history of the quilt. Fortunatly there is a date on the blocks but that is all. My Mom was the last from her generation, could have been a sister or a really good friend, don't know.

Just beauitiful! I am so glad this was finished.
Beautiful quilt,what a family treasure.
"And crown thy good, with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea." is on the bottom - what's on the top?
Is it "America, America, God shed his grace on thee"? |
Yes, the top says "America, America God shed His grace on thee.
I believe that this is one of my favorite quilts and story I've ever seen on this board. You are truly blessed to have it.
It is beautiful and such a wonderful story and memory behind it! :D
Just beautiful and such detail! Yes, it is something to be treasured.
As everyone already has said, ditto!!! Delightful story. I was noticing the applique, was it hand drawn and cut out and appliqued? If so that is even more talent. Unbelieveable!!! Thank you for sharing this with us. You are so blessed.

Find a way to label it with the story you've told us; a museum someday will thank you. It's wonderful!

How Lovely that is. Must mean sooo much to you. you are very lucky to have it.

I think it was hand drawn. My MIL can't really speak too well and is terribly confused. She wouldn't remember anymore. She always drew her appliques, so I'm assuming she did this one, too. She was such a talented lady! She owned a bakery in Chicago and made beautiful cakes and pastries. Then she started quilting and taught classes at local junior colleges. She was really something, and to see her brought down by Alzheimers is so heartbreaking. She's now 90 yrs. old and still healthy, but the Alzheimers has stolen so much from her life.

how special
