This is the latest quilt I've quilted for my cousin - a fabulous piecer. She used lots of wool applique and I love the colors and designs she used. To quilt this, I used wool batting and different background fills behind all of the applique blocks. That was fun to do. I took more pics, but most turned out blurry. Thanks for looking.

Truly beautiful...that is one of the nicest tree of life designs I've seen. The wool really does give it a different look and dimension, doesn't it? Your quilting is just great, you have really done justice to the quilt. Thanks so much for sharing your family's talents.

Your quilting is beautiful; and, although it stands on its own, it does not overpower or upstage the beauty of the quilt top. wow... This is what quilting is all about.

hcarpanini 02-24-2011 05:31 PM

I also quilted this quilt for a customer. Its nice to see the different styles.

Absolutely gorgeous! Can I ask you what color and kind of thread you used? Was it clear thread? I am amazed how this looks! Great piecing job as well. Thanks for sharing :D

On the outer border is Signature dark khaki with So Fine 405 in the bobbin. The inner blocks has YLI ecru on top and Bottom Line 402 in the bobbin. The ecru was great in the background fills and light/medium blocks, but I'm going to throw it away because it was SO linty. It is not as noticeable in the dark blocks as I feared it might be - you can see it, yes, but viewed from a few feet back, you just don't notice it as much as you notice the overall look.

This is absolutely gorgeous! This is the kind of work I love to do! And pardon my ignorance if I should know, but is this pattern available for purchase or is it your cousin's own design? Thanks
Maureen

It's a pattern, I think Moda. I'll ask her when she comes and picks it up this weekend.
