Triple Irish Chain Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I had made a triple Irish chain quilt for my son and his wife a couple years ago and had a lot of leftover Moda summer breeze jelly roll fabric to make another. I loved the quilt and decided to make one for myself. I don't like all the empty space, so I decided to include little 4-inch log cabins in the empty spaces. The logs finish at 1/4-inch. On my son's quilt I included their special photos in the empty spaces. I quilted it on my domestic Brother Laura Ashley sewing machine. I just quilted a bunch of squiggles, and in the border I made an attempt to quilt some hearts. (This is why I always send my quilts out to a professional!) LOL
This is a fun and easy quilt to make. |

Sheep Farmer- I already commented on how lovely your quilt is.
My question: How did you know what size to make the log cabins? I'm terrible at trying to figure things like that out :) |
Adding the log cabins is just pure inspiration. So accurate too, did you foundation piece them?
My quilting is very basic which makes me nervous about having a lot of negative space so I am going to file away this idea if you don't mind. |
Wow, those log cabins are tiny! Love your quilt.

SusieQOH: I think the center white square blocks are 10-inches, so I figured a 4-inch log cabin would fit well and sorta be centered with 3-inches on all sides. Also, I have the EQ software to lay things out and get an idea of how it will look. So that helped a lot!
