A sweet quilt. A variant I have tried is to dilute the glue then paint it on with a large artist's brush
|
I forgot to mention before that when I use the glue, I iron it to dry it out as I go along. That way there's no waiting! I don't use poly batting though, so the batting might melt with poly
|
Didn't know you could do it that way... I always thought glue basting was done with the spray basting glue. That's what I have used and it's wonderful for holding layers together without pins!

I dry iron the quilt to set the glue. It works great and you can work on the quilt immediately.

nice and bright, good luck with the glue basting
|
Thanks! :)
I bought a low loft poly batting, as this will be just a light throw for her to cover up with when she comes over. The iron didn't hurt it at all. If you are on the fence about glue basting, i say try it. Go with whatever works best for you. |
If you like glue basting, you'll LOVE spray basting.. I use 505 and it's changed my whole outlook on finishing a quilt. I'll never ever pin or sew baste again!!

I like the quilt top! Very nice work - everything matches perfectly. I use fabric glue stick for lots of things - zippers, paper piecing, basting. There is also a temporary basting spray sold at quilt shops and JoAnn's you might like. No drying time with the glue sticks or sprays.

Love all the color! I just glued my first one also. Just a small throw. 36". See some "glue lines" in it. Read here to also iron it. We'll see how it goes. Good luck with yours!

It is going to be a pretty quilt when finished.
