Just finished this WIP (I dont have UFOS, only WIPS)
As I was a thiny bit disapointed from the outcome it was not easy to find the motivation to finish it.

I made this from a Nature Notebook fatquarter pack from Moda. Very new to quilting I was taken away by the fabric, but as a quilt it is too much tone in tone to me.
No more fatquarterpacks anymore. But maybe I should have mixed the prints differently. I think this is called learning by doing...............

CarrieAnne 07-19-2010 06:48 AM

bertadel 07-19-2010 07:05 AM

I love it.

redquilter 07-19-2010 07:08 AM

I think it's really pretty. A soft, relaxing quilt that's just begging for someone to take a nap. (me, perhaps?)

b.zang 07-19-2010 07:08 AM

The overall effect is very nice. I can see that you've put a lot of work into piecing different fabrics although it almost looks like you've sewn the same fabric back together. Gorgeous colours.

Yep.........but in nature it is better visible. It also helped that I handquilted the single segments with dark blue thread .
Thank you for the nice coments.

I really like it. The fabrics do tend to blend together, but the overall effect is wonderful. It almost has a marbled look to it. 8-) Love the quilting and your label.

sidmona 07-19-2010 07:31 AM

Beautiful quilt - it looks so soothing.

trif 07-19-2010 07:37 AM

That is a beautiful quilt, I love it. A true quilter will appreciate the amount of work you put into it because even with the colors flowing so nicely you can see the work you did. I like it so much that if it was a kit I would probably have to buy it! Just lovely.

littlehud 07-19-2010 07:57 AM

I think it's beautiful. You did a great job all around. The quilting is beautiful. Great job and thanks for sharing.

mshawii 07-19-2010 08:09 AM

Your quilt is very pretty. Love the soft colors. One of the problems with making quilts from packets is that the colors seem to be all the same intensity. You basically used all mediums in this. Next time try using lights, mediums, and some darks to get better contrast. I have made this same mistake, haven't we all!!

Ditter43 07-19-2010 08:15 AM

Yes, the colors are muted, but that is part of it's charm!.I think it's very pretty! :D

Rachelcb80 07-19-2010 08:26 AM

It's very, very pretty. Even though it's not quite what you were looking for, it turned out lovely. When you first start quilting it's hard to know what you're going to like in regards to fabric and pattern combos. It's something that you'll learn more and more as you quilt longer and longer. At least I think so. I'm still learning. :)

I find with a lot of Moda fabrics, a few pieces of the collection are great, but the whole collection isn't always good together. It's deciding on the few pieces that's the hard part! I've bought quite a few charm packs and layer cakes, but I've never been able to spring for the fat quarter packs. :)

NorseSal 07-19-2010 08:27 AM

I love your quilt!! Being of Swedish ancestry, blue and yellow ( like the flag of Sweden ) has always been one of my favorite color combinations. I think the subtleness of the fabric is gorgeous.

franie 07-19-2010 08:29 AM

It is beautiful. It has a softness to it. A snuggle quilt for sure.

rootyr 07-19-2010 08:43 AM

So pretty!

quiltilicious 07-19-2010 09:08 AM

You may not like the colors, but it is a stunning quilt!

You now know you have the skills to do whatever you like, so trust your own judgment and pick out fabrics individually for the next one :-D

amma 07-19-2010 09:13 AM

Very Pretty!!! It is soft and soothing, but the pops of yellow in it are beautiful :D:D:D

Melinda in Tulsa 07-19-2010 09:36 AM

I think it is a very pretty quilt. You did a good job.

alaskasunshine 07-19-2010 09:51 AM

Your quilt is gorgeous!!!! I love the "blended" quilts they are so scerene and lovely. Your hand quilting is wonderful and it lends to the charm of a heirloom quilt.

marinebull 07-19-2010 09:56 AM

I wouldn't change a thing as my favorite colors are blue/yellow/white. In my eyes it is perfect. I know that quilts with contrast "pop" off the bed but that is not my idea of what I'd like on my bed. Keep up the good work!

Jim's Gem 07-19-2010 10:00 AM

Beautiful quilt!!

cbuchanan 07-19-2010 10:04 AM

I think it's gorgeous. I'm very partial to blue and yellow so if you're unhappy with it, I'll send my address to you. I would LOVE to have it. It's a beautiful quilt and you did a great job piecing and quilting. Don't be so hard on yourself. You did a great job.

Mrs. Mel 07-19-2010 10:04 AM

I would be willing to sacrifice and take it off your hands. I LOVE it.

wvdek 07-19-2010 10:08 AM

Your quilt is beautiful! You really put alot of work into it.
It is subtle, but I think that was the intent of the line. Soft, engaging, draws you to it but not overly done.

I appreciate it even more because I bought this line of fabric after my DD decided how much she loved it. After it arrived, she was not nearly as excited as before beacause of how muted and the colors seemed all alike and has told me to make the quilt for myself since I like B/Y/W together. I told her after spending nearly
$200.00 for fabric for it, she was not backing out. She about dropped her jaw. She had no idea it cost that much. I will be purchasing an all darker blue to use as large sashing between large HST. I hope to have it done for her B-day next year. I may try my hand at a scalloped border.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful quilt and giving me the inspiration to work at it. Please enjoy your quilt.

sewjoyce 07-19-2010 10:56 AM

I think it's beautiful!!

granny_59 07-19-2010 11:03 AM

I found that fatquarterpack with 33 fatquarters for less than $80 as it was on sale.
Well................and then I started to buy yardage from that line for sashing and borders. Didnt like it and bought different ones, also for the backing. As you can see I made a muslin backing at the end!?

So I have quite some fabric left over from that line and might give it another try mixing with other prints.

Thank you for your coments. With each one I start to look at my quilt differently and like it more and more

JoAnnGC 07-19-2010 11:22 AM

Your quilt is very lovely with the subtle blending of the blue, yellow and white patterns. I can just envision this draped over a white wicker chair in a beach cottage. I think it's perfect!

jljack 07-19-2010 12:57 PM

What calm, beautiful colors!!! Soft and romantic.

Irishlady 07-19-2010 01:37 PM

I think that quilt is beautiful, and as so many have already said, it has a calming effect because of the subtle use of colour, also I am very partial to blue and yellow.

CAROLJ 07-19-2010 05:20 PM

Another stunning quilt!

tonnadesigns 07-19-2010 05:31 PM
