Pam how beautiful, It makes me think of the cube puzzle that you twist around to make it come to a solid color on one side and the same on the other side.....anyway you have chosen the right scappy colors and they all blend in great together...I love the pattern that you have there...and you have done a Great Job and you should be very proud of your accomplishment.....your grand daughter must be a special person in your life to get such a beautiful wall hanging quilt.....a very lucky person, indeed.
I haven't tried the tumbling blocks yet, but would love to one of these days. it looks very complicated....tell me your secret.

I didn't use a pattern. I got my idea from a magazine & adapted it (changed it )so that it would work for a quilting contest that I entered here at a local quilt shop. The contest required all of us to use the same material that the shop provided. We had about 27 little 4" blocks to work with in whichever way we chose but we had to keep the project 36 x 36 or smaller (if I recall right). We were also allowed to add like 1/4 yd of another material. When I first saw all the colors I thought they were ugly together...but it made me work harder to come up with something that would incorporate all of them & still look half way decent. After I decided on the Tumbling Block theme...I started cutting diamonds & I divided the colors into lights, mediums & darks. If I were to do that project again I think I would try to do strip piecing & then cut the diamonds on an angle so that I would be dealing with strips of diamonds & not individual diamonds...but alas...I have not been quilting all that long & have a lot to learn yet!!! :D
