I made this quilt for my daughter so I'm naming it "Josie" just as I named her.

I started out cutting my fabric for a Turning 20 pattern. But I miscut and had fabric that was too narrow. I decided to turn my cutting mistake into a unique quilt.

I took the idea of stacked coins and went crazy with it. I made pinwheels from the big 10" squares.

The finished result is a scrappy, patchworky looking quilt that I just adore!

Now, I just need to add borders and decide on backing.

It measures about 60" wide x 75" long. The color is off in the 2nd photo because my hand was partially in front of the flash.

The pinwheels

As much of the quilt as I could fit in the frame

Most definitely! She's just as full of character and whimsy and spirit as this quilt. She's 4 years old going on 13. She specifically asked for the kitty cat fabric in it and squeals with delight when I let her lay on the quilt on the floor.

You gave me some ideas for the scrappy quilt I'm making. I could put pinwheels around the outside of my strips of 2x3" pieces. Thanks and beautiful quilt by the way.

I love this quilt! You did an amazing job turning a lemon into lemonade. And you have an adorable, beautiful DD. Thank You for sharing.

Your lovely DD has a lovely new quilt. They match - pretty, bright and happy. And I know the modified version is much more interesting than the symmetrical original. Love the colors and everything about it - esp the story.

You did a great job recovering from your error. Noone would know that you didn't plan this quilt from the very beginning! Josie will love it I'm sure!
