Backed it with a $2 sheet I got at Salvation Army, sewed shoestrings to the inside the duvet & the outside of my down comforter, tied them together to keep the comforter in place inside the duvet. Used velcro on the bottom to keep the top & bottom together. Was fun.

I used 25 batik fat quarters so it would be big enuf.

One block. I did 5 across & 5 down.

Buzzy is the reason I made it - my comforter was always dirty where he slept. Now I can wash the duvet more often.

Looks like a discerning admirer claimed it before you.
That might be the ticket for me to make for DD's nice white down comforter. Love yours.

That is a beautiful Turning Twenty! It caught my attention because they have a Turning Twenty quilt in the baby room at JJ Stitches in Sun Prairie and I'm thinking of making one for a great niece due in March.

Super! You have me thinking about making a cover for our comforter, we sleep with 3 chihuahuas. I almost always use sheets for backings. Good work and thrifty too.

quiltykim 01-08-2010 07:51 PM

Oh my...i bet the chihuahua's are darling. My grandpa always had chihuahua's...Mitzy and Tika.

Great idea. I have been thinking of doing something similar, but haven't gotten around to doing anything about it. I do love batiks, and all the colors are so bright & pretty.

Very pretty! Is Buzzy a bichon? We have one that looks just like him. Lily is our lap dog and LOVES to be on top of an blanket left in her reach!

paintedquilt 01-09-2010 08:23 AM

Wow, I love the colours :!: :-P :!:

Buzzy is 13 years old & rules the roost. He is a Lahso/Shitshu mix.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I just started another duvet cover for my DH's down comforter - in blues using a Warm Wishes pattern.
