Tuxedo Kitten Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
This is my first trial of the Kitten pattern. I'm giving him to my DGD, but I think I need to make another one for me...or for my kitties who will surely claim it as their own! He's only an 8 hour project, so I think he'll be on my machine again soon!
I made him out of glacier fleece-the really soft stuff and he turned out so nice! I gotta tell you, this is a pretty fun project! I think this style of baby quilts deserves a place in modern quilting, don't you? Oh-I might have to put a collar on him with a fish shaped name tag with my DGD's name! Gotta go do that now - bye! I'll add another picture with the addition later! |
Well he's just flat out adorable!
|

|

Great Idea to make as a cat mat. Is this a pattern you developed and are selling? Details please. |

All done now! I finished the line to define his face by his tail, found some bright pink corduroy for the collar and used the same fleece for the name tag that I used for his eyes! I just love him-I don't really want to send him to DGD yet, I want to play with him for a while!

That is wonderful. I am sure it will be your DGD's constant companion. A hypoallergenic cat too.

How adorable!!! Tag with name sounds perfect!!
|
What a cute kitty!

I had a couple of pm's asking how he's made. He's about 40x48" and made from glacier fleece-the really soft stuff!
I put a layer of batting in this one too, though sometimes I don't with fleece. I fuse all of the pieces in place and mark the stitching lines before I put him together. Sew with right sides together, flip him right side out, close the opening and stitch about a 3/8" faux binding. Then I satin stitch (or blanket stitch) around all of the fused appliqué pieces, satin stitch the definition lines and voila'-he's done. 8 hours flat. OK, 9 hours, I had to add the collar and name tag-see the pic in the middle of page 2! That's it. Couldn't be easier! |
Just adorable

I LOVE HIM. He is so adorable. I'm not a cat person, but we tolerate one another nicely anyway. ggl

That is just too darn cute. Definitely has a place with me!!

He is wonderful and I love the addition of the collar and fishy shaped name tag. And I totally agree we need more animal shaped quilts for little ones. When my son was young I bought a whole series of patterns that were based on the same idea. I made all different ones for my neices and nephews, wish I had pictures. Back then we didn't have wonderful soft fabrics like are available now. I hope you sell a ton of your design.
