Twin sister to my 9 patch scrappy posted a while ago

Just finished last night.

I still have so many scraps--but as most of you noted, it seems I never work them down to nothing--am always creating more.

It's a 9 patch scrappy using a 2.5" solid black sashing, hot pink inner border and floral border. I finished one last August and was so surprised by how nice it ended up looking that I wanted to make a "twin" only using black instead of white.

Here is the one I finished last August and posted previously to QB.

They are both very pretty quilts. Looks like a great way to use scraps.

QuiltnNan 03-07-2013 06:01 AM

nicely done

sharoney 03-07-2013 06:06 AM

Both are gorgeous! Great job. I may have to steal this idea. So simple, but impressive!

Homespun 03-07-2013 06:08 AM

They are both beautiful. My scrap bins are getting full so I must get started on them soon!

Tweety2911 03-07-2013 06:55 AM

Your scrappy quilts are wonderful! Love them both!!

A1penny 03-07-2013 06:59 AM

Very nice, really like both!

ruthrings 03-07-2013 07:10 AM

Both are fantastic! Hmm. . I wonder how many corners you had to match up!! AAARRRGGGHHH

KarenR 03-07-2013 07:13 AM

Beautiful! Can you tell me what size you cut to make the 9 patches? are they also 2 1/2" squares?

sue z q 03-07-2013 07:18 AM

Both so pretty. The nine patches could be made while sewing other projects, using the pieces as starters and stoppers.

gabeway 03-07-2013 07:21 AM

Truly awesome quilts!

Sierra 03-07-2013 07:27 AM

You have put together 1050 little tiny blocks. There is no way I could do that! I'd go insane. Having said that you should know that I think both your quilts are beautiful.

MaryMo 03-07-2013 07:31 AM

What a wonderful way to use scraps, even the smallest ones! outer borders make the black quilt pop as well as the sashing. Those quilts will surely receive lots of love ! Thanks for sharing.

"Same Different as Me" is the name of a book. It think it fits your quilts here. I am a twin and I love that they are the same but different.

quiltsRfun 03-07-2013 07:46 AM

Both quilts are lovely. They have very different "personalities" due to the different background fabric.

Yes, I used 2.5" squares.

There is something rewarding about making 9 patches. They are pretty easy, and the end result is often quite pretty, so I don't mind.

Thank you. I was wondering the same thing. Guess lots of people are interested in being copycats of such a great quilt.

I really don't know. I quilted the black one mostly in one afternoon--but spent part of the next day on it as well. Actually doing the piecing of the top? I don't know--I usually don't work like that--all in one solid block on one quilt.

Diane007 03-07-2013 01:42 PM

nice happy colours

Mariposa 03-07-2013 01:56 PM

Both are lovely! Neat to see them "same, yet different". :)

alikat110 03-07-2013 04:18 PM

nativetexan 03-08-2013 06:52 PM

I feel for you having to match all those sashings. you did a great job! lovely quilts.

Pieces2 03-09-2013 04:12 AM

Great quilts, wonderful patterns for using scraps. :)

twinkie 03-09-2013 04:32 AM

Fantastic. The same pattern results in two entirely different looking quilts. I love the outcome.

lots2do 03-09-2013 04:42 AM

Nice job...I'd like to make one too.

Moonglow 03-09-2013 04:52 AM

Nice work on both quilts. Great way to use up scraps.

SueDor 03-09-2013 05:05 AM

Both are great, I don't know which one I like best.

Canada Kate 03-09-2013 05:10 AM

I like them both, and I really appreciate seeing the difference the sashing makes. Gives me ideas!

MargeD 03-09-2013 05:14 AM

Love them both, but you need to keep a lid on those scraps or they will multiply while you aren't looking. LOL

IngeMK 03-09-2013 05:30 AM

nice work! I love both of them

quilt-n-girl 03-09-2013 05:38 AM

Both are beautiful, but I like the one with the black a little better, because of the use of black. It seems to make the
colors in the rest of the quilt pop.
