Twinkle Quilt

2 Attachment(s)
I just finished this top today and thought I'd share. The back is going to be a black and gray floral on a white background and I'm going to use the same fabric as the black border to bind it. Off to the quilter's tomorrow and should have it back in a couple of weeks. :)

I agree, this is beautiful. amazing what you can do with a simple railfence by just adding a twist.

Mariposa 01-27-2012 08:20 AM

Looking good! I want to do this also! The pattern is from Scrap-Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett.

Jmncolts 01-27-2012 08:30 AM

Ooooo! Love it!! Great job...it's Beautiful!! :) You don't have to answer this...it may be rude for me to ask..lol! (I am new to all this!) Roughly how much do you pay to get quilts quilted? What is reasonable? It seems like a lot of people do get their tops quilted somewhere else vs. doing it themselves which makes total since..it would have to be an extreme process on a home machine! I am about to try my first top (only have done rag quilts)...and was going to "try" to quilt it myself just to try but figure I wouldn't be able to always do it for future projects..as I don't have the time and space to devote to it?! (guessing it would be easiest to leave out to hold your place?!...idk like I said I'm new to all this..lol!) :)

nativetexan 01-27-2012 09:05 AM

very nice. how large is it? I like it!!

Grandma Cindy 01-27-2012 09:15 AM

great job and fabric choices, do you get to keep it?

Rubesgirl 01-27-2012 09:18 AM

Thanks to all of you for your nice comments. As a newbie, any comments, criticism or advice would be very welcome! The pattern did come out of Kim Brackett's Scrap Basket Sensations book (it's the last pattern in the book.) I really like the way the red pops out at you. The top is 63"x52". It was not difficult and although I am a slow sewer, it didn't take too long, since it is sewn in strips. My daughter said that she knew this was one I wouldn't give away. Thanks again for the encouraging words!

Wendy from VA:)
