Twister baby quilt: teal, purple & brown - modified trip around the world

Here is a twister baby quilt I made for a family member. They requested these colors for their baby girl. It doesn't look like a baby quilt to me, but it is the colors they requested. I used purple minky on the back to make it nice and soft. It is a little large for a baby quilt - I thought it might be used more when she is a toddler since it really doesn't look babyish to me.

Great job on a terrific baby quilt! Love the teal and purple too! :)

I designed it myself, but it is very similar to "Trip Around the World". It is a "Twister" quilt which requires using the twister tool/ruler.

Have you seen some of the clothes they're putting on these babies? Your quilt looks fine and very pretty. I've seen black and white in a baby room for a girl no pinks or anything girly. A friend of mine watched a Jenny Doan tutorial about making a receiving blanket, She did it in browns and very few light shades. That's what the parents wanted.

Which size ruler did you use?

On this one I used the June Tailor twister ruler that has different sizes. I borrowed it from a friend and gave it back to her already. If my memory is correct I cut the squares 6" before cutting them down with the twister ruler. The quilt ended up being about 50+" square. That ruler was much, much easier to use than the original twister rulers. It has grooves in it where you cut, so you don't end up cutting too much. Here is a link on the ruler.
