Twister experiment
1 Attachment(s)
I was trying an experiment that didn't work the way I wanted it to, however I got to looking at my layout and something clicked in my head. I substituted the center sections with pieces of other fabrics, and you can see that they now have some really interesting frames around them.
The piece isn't finished yet, but wanted to show you what I was working on today! |
Looks good to me to only be experimental. I haven't seen one done that way, but very pretty.

quite interesting

Different and very neat looking!

Excellent work....bet no one will have one like it. I like the designs and you did a great job.
There are never mistakes, only happy accidents for new designs. It looks great.
Looks very good. There is nothing 'mere' about your experament.
Thanks for the compliments! I won't get much of a chance to finish it tomorrow..will be out of town most of the day.

I like it too. Cleaver you for designing a new block.

Love it because it gives me an idea for my Great Grandson's 1st Birthday quilt. I have everything to make it too. Thanks for the idea : )

WOW, I think you've opened up a whole new universe in the twister world!!! Clever!

I like it with, a few fabric changes it would make a nice christmas quilt with the red and green.
Don't you just love it when a design idea pops into your head? Very creative.

From the 12 blocks of color 1, make 3 4-patch blocks. Do the same with Color 2 blocks. Then you sew 4-patch 1 to 4-patch 2. That's Row 1. Row 2 will be 4-patch 2 next to 4-patch 1. Row 3 will be the same as Row 1. Using your twister tool, cut out your squares and put them in the same order. You will have a solid block in the center of each section. Substitute a different 3-1/2" square for the center of each section so that the other blocks form a frame around the new block. Then sew your twister squares together and there you are! |
Great new idea!
That's a clever solution to what may have been a problem. I like it!
I like it alot ! Very different.
Very creative and nice job!
What a cool idea!!! That has lots of possibilities, think photos in the centers? or wow this could really develop into some interesting quilts. thanks for sharing.
definitely different. I can see this with Xmas cloth in the center squares to make a neet Xmas runner.
That is pretty cool. I see the center blocks with photos! What a great concept for a photo quilt!
Twister is so much fun and you have really added a cool design to it! Love it when an experiment goes oh so right!

could you do a tut for us, seeing is so much clearer to a lot of us. Thank you for the new creation. Jan |
Farmquilter, actually it isn't all that difficult. If you have the Lil Twister tool, it comes with instructions and a layout that is 4 blocks by 6 blocks. I used two different fabrics and made 3 4-patches of each color. Then layout your 4-patches in checkerboard fashion. The horizontal rows have 2 4-patches, one of each color. Then the second row the same but the colors are switched. The 3rd row is the same as the 1st row. Then add your 3" border all around.
When you cut the twister blocks, you will end up with what you see in the pics. Just take out the solid center blocks and replace with different fabrics or photos. |
I like it. I hadn't thought of doing that. Thanks for sharing.
Very cute.
I like your choice of colors.
How interesting, I really like your experiment. That's how we learn to make new pattern's. It is going to be so nice. I hope you will share with all of us again, when you are all done making it.
