He's a BQ2 again. I was going to use black thread on top but decided that black thread would overwhelm the white and yellow flowers so I used white. What do you think? Your input is always helpful to me.

mgshaw 09-05-2008 12:22 PM

Yep!! I like the white thread!!! Great job!!!!

HisSunshine 09-05-2008 12:24 PM

Well, I'm no expert, but I like the white thread. It shows up nicely on the solid black and compliments (but doesn't overpower) the florals. Nicely done, as always! :D

Knot Sew 09-05-2008 12:40 PM

That looks good, I think either would have been good. I also read to use gray when there is more than one color...what do you do in that situation?

Chele 09-05-2008 12:43 PM

Cool quilt! I like the white thread!

Moonpi 09-05-2008 12:49 PM

I agree, that much black thread would give a dirty appearance from a distance. It looks great!

jacquemoe 09-05-2008 01:08 PM

I try to get the customer to choose the color threads. Safer for me, lol. I believe you are correct! Gray would be a good choice. Thanks for the reminder.

KellyPA 09-05-2008 01:49 PM

I think it looks wonderful with the white thread!!!

sewnsewer2 09-05-2008 01:52 PM

Wow! That's pretty and the quilting is wonderful.

zyxquilts 09-05-2008 02:23 PM

Another great job Jacque! I like the white - I think the black would not have been good over the polka dots...unless you were going to play dot-to-dot

Harmony 09-05-2008 03:14 PM

As always, it is gorgeous! You're a quilting genius!

sandpat 09-05-2008 03:16 PM

I agree, I think the white is a good choice for this. The black would have muddied the waters on the flowers. Nice quilt by the way.

beachlady 09-05-2008 03:16 PM

Jackie I thnk you should redo it in black thread!!! LOL... Only kidding. As usual - great work. I am going to do a black/white/yellow someday.

mouse 09-05-2008 03:23 PM

You have done it again, Jackie...that is a stunning quilt. You certainly
have an "eye" for what will make a great quilt even better. You
are definately in the right business.

Elizabeth A. 09-05-2008 03:46 PM

I think you picked wisely, I really like how it looks on the black and you're completely right any color especially back would have washed out all those beautiful colors and quite possibly made the black on white fabrics look to busy.

I read somewhere that the quilting on a quilt adds another depth, a harmony, you always seem to hit that line just right. Adding without taking a thing away from the piecing.

Marcia 09-05-2008 04:27 PM

I think white was the right choice. As usual, you have done a brilliant quilting job too!

Grandma Cindy 09-05-2008 07:32 PM

wonderful fabrics and quilting!

CissyQuilts 09-05-2008 07:45 PM

I think the white thread looks great Jackie. It's a lovely quilt and the quilting is awesome as usual!

Kyiav10 09-05-2008 07:50 PM

White was the best choise also in my opinion. The quilt and quilting are beautiful!!

Shelley 09-05-2008 08:34 PM

That turned out so nice, Jackie!!!! I like the white thread, perfect for that quilt!

I also try to let the customer pick the thread colors. Only once did I get a quilt loaded, try the thread and go "yuck!", and make an executive decision to change. It was a quilt with square blocks of Hawaiian fabrics, separated by sashing. We thought that a Rainbows variegated would look good, but it looked horrid on the two-color blocks. I went with white thread, put a Hawaiian flower in each block (the customer wanted reallllllly lightly quilted) with SID on the blocks. Sometimes simple works best!!

You are doing awesome work, girl!!!

quiltsRfun 09-05-2008 09:17 PM

I think you made the right choice with the white. As you say, it doesn't overwhelm the flowers and it makes a nice contrast on the black. Would love to see a picture of the whole quilt.

sewaholic 09-05-2008 10:52 PM

I echo that - looks great and would love to see the whole thing... please :D

tlrnhi 09-06-2008 12:25 AM

Jacque....as always...you did another gorgeous one!
You never cease to amaze me!

Izy 09-06-2008 03:39 AM

Your work goes from strength to strength Jacque....I love how the white thread makes such a prominent effect on the black.....well done, you amaze me with your talent :D

Quilt4u 09-06-2008 03:43 AM

You made the right choice with the white; but yiu always make the right choice, and it always comes out beautiful.

bearpaw 09-06-2008 04:25 AM

White looks good to me! Great job!

auntluc 09-06-2008 12:36 PM

Definately the right choice for thread....makes the black fabric look like it has a design of it's own.

judee0624 09-06-2008 04:05 PM

I like the white thread. There is already black in the prints that looks like quilting lines. Love the quilt,do you know if it is a pattern?

judee

jacquemoe 09-06-2008 04:32 PM

Hi Judee
Every time I post this pattern someone wants to know what it is. When I saw it in a LQS I just had to have it and try one myself. It's a
BQ2 pattern

rein 09-06-2008 06:41 PM

Jackie - I love it = and I think your client will also. I agree that the black would have been a bit overwhelming on the white material and would have distracted from the material's pattern itself and made it appear to be "dirty" until you looked closely. EXCELLENT choice on your part - as usual! Gray may have owrked too - but I do like the white.

jojo 09-06-2008 06:49 PM

Hi! Beautiful quilt. Are you using a long arm to quilt? I really like the pattern.

Bevanger 09-07-2008 06:36 AM

i'm not a pro like you on this subject, but i love how you did it in white

Bill'sBonBon 09-07-2008 07:19 AM

sondray 09-07-2008 01:05 PM

It's beautiful. The white thread looks great.

GailG 09-09-2008 09:52 PM

I echo a thumbs up on the white stitching. It looks interesting on the black. Good choice.
