Thanks to the input from several quiltingboard.com folks, I have finally finished the quilts for my grandchildren (Christmas presents). Wanted to share them with y'all.

Is that close up of an open pocket? That would be perfect for a little girl with lots of Polly Pockets (my granddaughter, quickly comes to mind!). I love the fabrics in both quilts.

Are we really so close to Christmas that you all are finishing projects or am I just so far behind????

MamaInRed 10-21-2012 07:32 PM

Those are both lovely, I am sure your grand kids will cherish them.
I have never seen the detail on the girls quilt, looks like a twisted bow.
Is there as name for this ?

LTeachergeorge 10-21-2012 07:33 PM

They are both beautiful quilts!! Of my 5 quilts I plan to make for each of my gk for Christmas, one is completed(!!), one is at the LA, one needs to be made larger and quilted; and the 2 Ï Spy's" for the toddlers need to be cut out and pieced. I'm envious that you are finished!! Great job!

Linda

Very nice. The kids will treasure them forever.

HillCountryGal 10-22-2012 02:28 AM

Thank you for your kind words.
I found the pattern for the twisted bows in an old book. They were fun to make.

**Linda, I only have two grandchildren. If I had five to sew for... I would have had to start on them two years ago!! :D

QuiltnNan 10-22-2012 03:32 AM

Beautiful quilts.

Yooper32 10-23-2012 03:40 AM

That twisted bow looks like a very interesting process. I looked for quite a while trying to mentally sew that. I think I messed up. * * !

Yooper32 10-23-2012 03:41 AM

My mouth was over between the two eyes, until I hit "post Quick Reply"

HillCountryGal 10-23-2012 04:28 AM

Yooper, the twisted bow isn't hard. It's like making a sleeve of sorts, different fabrics on each side. Then sewing one side down, twisting twice, then sewing again. The squares are kind of womper-jawed till you sew the rest of the block together.

solstice3 10-23-2012 04:52 AM

both are very nice

MimiBug123 10-23-2012 06:32 AM

Your DGKs are going to be sooo happy. I loved the attic windows, but I saw the pink cat one and loved it just as much. I especially like the little twist you added.
