Those are two gorgeous "little quilts". You did a great job.

Sandy65 02-09-2013 04:56 AM

You did a fine job on both quilts. Never thought about using a doily.

They are both beautiful!

Just love both of these little masterpieces. The flowers and doilies are charming - so sweet, and I love the pattern and color combinations you used in the larger one. Great jobs!

Beautiful quilts!

I love the embroidery. You do beautiful work. I love both of your quilts. Great fabric selection too. Do you live anywhere near Point Arena? My son and family live there. You really wouldn't imagine that there would be rugged countryside 3 hours north of San Fran.

Both quilts are beautiful, the embroidery is so pretty. good job ,thanks for sharing.
Hand quilting or sewing is out of my range, my tremors just won't let me use a needle and thread anymore. too much DNA left on everything if I try.

aeble 02-09-2013 07:27 AM

I wouldn't have known to wet them to solve that issue. Thanks for sharing.

ccthomas 02-09-2013 07:40 AM

Love both of these quilts. I need to pull some of my older embroidery out and see if I can be "creative." Thanks for sharing.

How did you wet down and sew? Was it damp? When the fabric dried, was the stitching "tighter?"

nannya54 02-09-2013 07:43 AM

Pretty and delicate. So very lovely!

oldquilter 02-09-2013 07:56 AM

Those are lovely, nice job.

Lovely quilts! The embroidered one is so very feminine.

How did you attach the doilies? I have a few made by my mom that I would love to incorporate into a quilt but don't know how. Any advice?

Quiltchen 02-09-2013 08:30 AM

I pressed them really well to start then put the pink fabric in a hoop and pulled it taught, but not tight. I had marked the center of the fabric to start with then lined up the center of the doily with the center of the fabric. I tacked the doily down using thread that matched the crochet yarn in discrete places on each round of the doily. I used a whip stitch, so nothing fancy. Then I assembled the quilt. Hope that helps.

those are great and I love that you used pink. Usually I mostly see ppl using it in baby quilts.
That's a great use of that block and the small quilt, I just know your dd loves it.
