I made a couple more that I used fusible fleese and that worked better then batting. The batting distored the square i started with so I will not use that again. I did not fuse the fleese to the fabric but I maybe should have use that side to sew the fabric on. The second ones I had to square up the sides before I went any further. What foundation did you use?
I fused the HNB to the wrong side of a cotton fabric. I sewed the selvages on the diagonal to the fusible side (wrong) side. I did not press until I was done with the piece. I decided to do this in case I happened to sew too close to the fabric edge of the selvage and get a pull out. If I wanted a fluffier piece I think I would attach the strips on the fusible side of the fleece...good idea to use the fusible IMHO. I did not use HNB in the chickens...only a piece of scrap muslin.
Also...my very first strip is not a selvage piece...I use a regular strip of fabric at least 1 1/4" (could go wider) wide then I sewed my first selvage strip down. Most of my selvages are narrower than the ones in your bag, too.

Thanks for showing us your lovely selvage bags! Are you using the sew and flip method?
Lay first selvage right side up and the second strip right side down over the first one and sew along one edge...open the strips and continue placing strips along one edge to sew and flip?

No..I lay fabric right side up then overlap the selvage edge of the next strip and top stitch on the selvage edge making sure I have enough of the first fabric underneath..say a quarter of an inch.

Good job on the bags. I wish I had the tenacity to collect the salvage edges and do something with them. Keeping scraps organized is the best I can do. These are very nice.
