I started at 9:00 yesterday morning with just washed fabric. I worked my behind off! I was a sewing MACHINE! Uh, well... you get the picture.

I got two tops done for my grandsons. Johnny just turned 1 and Gabe is 2 1/2. The crib sized quilt is totally finished!! Gabe's top is done and the flannel back is in the dryer trying to get a few wrinkles out. I have 4 more hours until I have to leave for 2 combined b-day parties. Can I get the quilt done???

Going to jump in the shower now to save time later. Keeping my fingers crossed that the long arm doesn't throw fits like last night.

Would you consider adopting me? :) Beautiful work, as always.

OMG... The quilting is done on the larger quilt! Just cut it off the frame. There wasn't one thread breakage, no snarls, no eyelashes. Absolutley perfect!! Now if I can bind it in 45 minutes...

It's all done! Two quilts in two days, I can't believe it. I am exhausetd and my house looks like a tornado went through and blew scraps of fabric all over.

The quilt inspector was taking a nap and wouldn't move for me to take a pic. I flapped the quilt at her and she just opened one eye and looked at me... right, like that's going to make me move.

I'll be a little late to the party but, it's more of a BBQ and adult thing too so it's going to be going all day and into the night.

I took the quilt off the frame and went to trim and square it. I am amazed that it actually came off the frame as square as it went on.

It looks to me like it's being pulled out of square when it's on the frame but I guess it goes back to what it wants to be. Maybe why it's so hard to get something square when it doesn't start out that way. A lot of wetting and setting and making it stay.

katier825 02-20-2010 01:52 PM

It looks great! I like that swirly pattern you used. Enjoy the party!

Making me blush. It was seat-of-my-pants work, didn't really have a plan in mind except for the framed squares which turned into using different colors for the frames.

The party was good, lots of food and people. My granddaughter liked her quilt, the 1 year old layed on it for a moment on mommy's lap, then back to opening presents. What really warmed my heart was the 2 1/2 year old.

He took the tissue off the top of the gift bag, saw the quilt and said, "Blankey". He took it out of the bag, wrapped his arms around it still folded up, and ran for the stairs. Mommy asked if he was going to show us his blankey? He shook his head "no", and continued up the stairs. I followed him and he had it wrapped around him in the hallway and still going straight for his bedroom. He took it right to his bed and was trying to lay it out on the bed so I helped him.

He leaned his elbows on the bed and looked at the circus animals, naming them and making the sounds. He then scrambled over to his toys, got a loin figure (he loves animals), and layed it on a lion in the quilt. He covered the lion with the corner of the quilt, put his finger to his lips and said, "Shhh." "Is the lion going night-night?" "Yes." He ushered me out, pointing for me to flip the light off.

I hope it gets many years of loving wear.

Nice job on the quilts. Seems like you're beginning to tame that beast of yours, too. I'm referring to the LA, aka Queenie. Nice job on the quilting, too.

Thanks for taking us on this whirlwind journey and love the happy ending. I was just looking at the circus fabric (in red) the other day, thinking I really should use it, wondering what it would look like when cut. Now I know!
