I am trying to use up some of my hand dyed fabric and love the iris flower. The first one is quilted first and then shaded with ink. I was trying for a dreamy Monet's garden look. I have had the background fabric for a year now and loved it when I dyed it. The second is just a stained glass version, really simple. I haven't quilted it yet. As always, I love to share my patterns, just pm me with information.

Beautiful. Love the background fabric in the watercolor one. I love to see the hand dyed fabrics in quilts:)

Those are beautiful. My Mom raised iris - and every time I see one, I think of her.

I Love these quilts, thanks for sharing them, how did you do the stain glass look? a satin stitch?

cuppi duke 08-26-2011 07:02 AM

I used yarn in this one. It is easy to maneuver and I just zig zag over it.

Beautiful!! I love Iris's!!!

suezquilts 08-26-2011 02:07 PM

Ok, you use yarn, any certain kind? I just purchased a pattern from someone on the board who made a barn and used hot ribbon, but yarn would be less expensive than hot ribbon.
Love the idea of yarn as I can zig zag and not really have to be satin stitching or anything.
Enjoy!

KwiltyKahy 08-26-2011 03:16 PM

Wow your stain glass iris is beautiful. You are very talented to have drawn your own. Debcavan also uses yarn and made a beautiful rose. Both of you are very talented. Hope to make one someday. Iris looks easier than the rose Going to bookmark this for when I come across a beautiful iris like yours.

maine ladybug 08-27-2011 05:30 AM

grammysharon 08-27-2011 05:45 AM

I used Red Heart worsted weight. Kind of stretch it as you go along and don't let it roll. Also zig zag with a smaller stitch between.
